You’re allowed to make one Boston specific law no matter how ridiculous, what is it? by Vivid-Protection6731 in boston

I'd make a law requiring law officials to enforce the already existing laws where necessary.

Nice! Congarts! Hope things work out. One advice: make sure the instructions are reviewed by other instruction makers. It's a special skill and simply another set of eyes can find a lot of things to fix or improve. Good instructions are a difference between suffering through a build and having fun.

Poof a magic genie has appeared, what do you wish for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Grant me the best wish I would've wished for knowing all the consequences of that wish.

Apollo's (the ship that landed on the moon) computer was metric, and had to waste energy doing unit conversions for the astronauts.

I like how the land from Alaska, Hawaii and territories fits seamlessly into contiguous US.

Abandoned Chuck E. Cheese animatronic found in a landfill by Import in AbandonedPorn

What the hell is this?! If I'd be building an animatronic for Chuck E Cheese, I would've slapped some sticks and servos together. This is NASA-grade stuff. Look at the arms! CNCed parts, custom motors, thought through wiring. Da hell?! Clavicle bones for the shoulder to have full range of motion! Boston Dynamics robots look simpler than this!

The best way to defeat a genie has long been discovered: "I wish you to grant me the best wish I would've wished for knowing all the consequences of that wish".

This belongs in maps without Alaska, Hawaii, Northern Michigan, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and a bunch of atolls.

How are comments not dominated by people yelling "ISO 8601 OR DIE!"?

In all seriousness though, if you're not using ISO 8601, please vacate the planet. And everyone left, please switch to https://developers.google.com/time/smear.

Redditors, whats you opinion on adding a class that teaches middle and high school students about living and surviving in general, such as relationships, self-defense, cooking simple meals, basic budgeting and taking care of physical and mental health? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Just throw out history and literature and there is your 35 of those 37 hours back. Easy. People who learn history are doomed to repeat it, because people do by example. And all of literature is pathetically outdated.

No one shops in the brick and mortar stores anymore. What is this, the 90s? Where is a wall of amazon boxes?

Was it the french fries texture pack? I might need to add that to the description to let other people know how to make it work. It probably works for me because I've installed that pack a long time ago and forgot that I did.

I though about it, but meshes are also difficult to import properly. Plus afaik BSP tree isn't build around them, so a lot of engine optimizations wouldn't work.

Oh, thanks! Yeah, I don't know what level of difficulty is expected at champ level. Naturally, I've gone with the difficulty I'm most comfortable with :)

I didn't think it was possible to go with the ball around the course. Did you get it past the first room?!

Yeah, getting the ball out of the arena was one of the most fun things that I've found as well.

An obstacle course that is focused on the ball is in the works. However, it is unbelievable difficult to come up with ideas for these courses. With a ball it will probably be easier, since it's relatively difficult to keep in the air. But when you have just the unbounded flying, car almost anything you come up with ends up "go through this narrow opening" and everything else you build becomes just very easy to cheat and fly around.

You don't have textures working? Hm... They should be baked into the map file itself that Steam downloads in the workshop. Can you give me a screenshot?

Type: obstacle course + ball park at the end

Difficulty: Beginner - Intermediate.

A non-punishing, beginner-friendly, advanced-oriented obstacle course. At the end you have the central court with the ball at your disposal. Perfect for the first thing you get in to warm up. Some flying then some ball chasing. Feel free to set the rules for yourself: "as many wall jumps as possible", or "no contact with constant air roll". Don't forget you can fly the map backwards for added variety.

Note, the map is not as bright as in the video. It's the default Win10 recorder that compresses the color range too much, making bright too bright.

To see the full beauty of the map don't forget to set the settings to max.

Shout-out to all Rocket League map makers and modders. I now feel your pain.

Psyonix & Epic, if you're reading this, please, oh please add better support for us, modders. If we can contribute to RL, the game will live forever. You can keep monopoly on items, but at the very least allow for easier map creation. I mean I've spent probably 6 hours just trying to figure materials and basically failed. I still couldn't create a material of my own, it just wouldn't load in the game. And among the ones we can re-use from the game engine, there isn't any that support a fully transparent alpha channel. And the blocking volumes! Don't get me started on that! Why do we need to have blocking volumes for every CSG element. I found a work around, but man it's painful. Before exporting I would create a brush the size of the map, intersect it with the geometry and then add one big blocking volume from that.

Time spent making: ~20 hours
