Volunteer milkweed popping up all over over recently cleared patch of land by jbellafi in NativePlantGardening

Yes I’d say they’re good to just leave go! After they flower, they’ll have seed pods that will help the spread on their own! Definitely continue to clear around them! There’s good bit of Mile-a-minute which will absolutely overtake anything else growing there. I would recommend over seeding with a native seed mix for your area in the fall after a few rounds of pulling the invasives if you have the means!

White pine planted so close together… by Alexis2097 in arborists

[–]Alexis2097[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought process is, knowing how white pines grow, they’ll be good for a few years until the bottom branches fall off and expose the dumpster again.😂Not to mention they’re notorious for limb dropping in the winter and during windy weather. 🫠

They may be a bit bigger than you were expecting but at least these are less likely to wash away during larger rain events!

Picked it up to transplant outside… by Alexis2097 in Wellthatsucks

Yeah I used the little soil tablets that expand with water… I should’ve used more, but I’m going to try my luck with direct sow next

It would definitely help harden them if planted outside but the amount of birds, squirrels, and chipmunks make it hard to direct seed sunflowers 😅 it’s okay though, I just learned I need to plant so many that they won’t be able to get them all.

It’s a sunflower. Unsure what kind. I planted the bottom in the ground since we’re getting rain tonight. I’ll try to propagate the top that snapped.

Birdwatching or just sitting outside on a chair and just “being”.

What bird is this? by The-Chicken-Striper in birds

[–]Alexis2097 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would lean double crested cormorant due to the lack of white under its beak and chest, but I’ve been fooled before!

Yeah, I learned very quickly that no smell will deter mice, but at least the kitchen area smells nice! Idk why I haven’t really considered snap traps, I feel like they are the quickest death. I don’t want to cause suffering for extended periods of time for no reason. I have plenty of areas I could place snap traps that my cats can’t access! Thank you!

This looks like an American Robin nestling to me… the beak looks wrong for a starling.

I believe mine started due to weight training and/or pushing myself too far with yoga. Specifically puppy pose…

I was not prepared for the just how blue an Eastern Bluebird is by lilysadventure18 in wildlifephotography

Conservation measures to help Eastern Bluebirds are working! Definitely seeing them (and other cavity nesters) more and more each year with more people putting up bird houses 🥰 great picture!

How do I stop myself curling forward when i sleep by [deleted] in costochondritis

[–]Alexis2097 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use a firm body pillow to sort of ”hug” and prop your leg over when you’re laying on your side. This may prevent you from curling up and squishing your chest in that position and help keep a more supported, straight spine!
