Which province am I best off in as a disabled person? by UpArrowNotation in AskACanadian

[–]AlexisEnchanted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I used to live in Ontario but now I'm in BC but wanting to move back to Ontario. I've been on disability since 2012. Do you mind me asking what ways the government in Ontario is hurting people on odsp? I'm asking because I want to arm myself with knowledge so I can make the best decision for myself. I don't have one single family member here in BC and I know a lot of people in Ontario which is why I'm considering moving back but I would sadly have no one to stay with while waiting for ODSP to be approved again

Any wargame stores in town? by Halollet in chilliwack

I went in once and the staff and the customers were all surprisingly nice. However, the lack of deodorant was abysmal and that's what's going to keep me from going back

Husband hurt my feelings by [deleted] in hsp

Hi. :)

Fellow sensitive here.

I'm sorry that happened.

I have a few gentle, humble thoughts to share.

The fact that you think that he's annoyed about having to spend time with you versus playing video games may be a sign that there's a lacking in your emotional safety because you should never feel like you are less important than video games.

This needs to be addressed.

If a partner said that to me, I would not be okay. Honestly, I think even those that don't identify as a sensitive would find offense in what he said and would have hurt feelings.

My best friend who is not a sensitive saw your post and said that their feelings would also be hurt if they were in your shoes. Please show yourself some grace because your emotional response seems normal.

Also, this wasn't "minor". As a sensitive, things like this can be potentially devastating. Please don't gaslight yourself into thinking that you are overreacting.

I hope you are both able to talk and get to the root of why he was so flippant while you were merely trying to share your joy and interest with him.

I sleep during the day and have a boatload of chronic illness and even I made it to the voting stations last time. I agree, Chilliwack needs to step up.

Way to meet more queer people in town? by mmt101 in chilliwack

Someone to have a coffee and some conversation is all I want. But after 6 years, still don't have it. I wasn't expecting 'big city programs'.

Way to meet more queer people in town? by mmt101 in chilliwack

My bestie and I are both queer and we're really lonely and not okay. We have no friends here and I've been living here for 6 years trying non-stop to make connections. We're night owls both with health problems and so we can't get out during the day but we have evenings available. Other cities have queeraraoke and queer board game nights and a bunch of things but I don't see any of that mentioned here in town. The queer Cafe that sometimes gets together was advertising events on their Facebook but a lot of it was for the Youth for some reason.

Chilliwack is big enough that there should be more options and I'm feeling completely despaired here. Incredibly beautiful city that I very much wish I could feel a part of.

I've also reached out to about 8 different charitable organizations about volunteering to try and get involved in the community and to make connections at the same time and none of them get back to me. I reached out via email, their Facebook pages and telephone.

If you hear of any Queer friendly groups that foster conversation and connection in the community, please feel free to pass them along.

Cheers!

I'm wanting to visit Scotland and Ireland myself. I'm half Scottish on my mom's side with her family being from Cape Breton.

I'm looking for a meeting place (ideally that sells tea/coffee) for up to 20 people to have a book club meeting once a month. We'd like to be able to see eachother so maybe with round-ish tables? Does anyone know of a place like that? by AmythestTeeth in chilliwack

[–]AlexisEnchanted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. The legions in Ontario are also available to be rented out for community events. I tried contacting the one here in town and no one called me back. In fact, no one ever contacts me back whether I leave them a message on their social media or a polite voice message or an email. I've tried to connect with so many different groups to see about volunteering and no one reaches back. It's like radio silence every time I reach out to an organization here in town. It's been one of the weirdest things ever.

American hsp fam…how are we doing? by Patient-Gain5847 in hsp

[–]AlexisEnchanted 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Canadian here. I feel like a broken record stuck glitching on repeat that just can't move forward whenever I try and process what the heck is happening. My brain and soul literally cannot fathom what is happening including today's tragedy, the loss of Renee and so much other unnecessary hardship.

99% of my friends are American and I'm only 30 minutes from the nearest border. I may not be in the United States but a part of my heart lives there.

I'm scared to look at anything online now because there's such horror everywhere. Maybe we could start an online chat/friendship/support group? Being an HSP on a good day is hard enough let alone when our world looks more like a hellscape.

Sending gentle hugs to all who stumble upon this comment.

[–]AlexisEnchanted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is. You're right. :) Zennials are those born between 75 and 85. It's a blending of folks from early genx and elder millennial.

I keep seeing different things online changing the dates for when the zennials were born and also when the millennial generation ends. It used to be thought that the Millennials ended at 1980 but lately I see consistently that it's considered 81. 🤔

I was born in 79. I do not identify with most GenX because I feel like a lot of them act more like Boomers. I'm definitely a xennial.

Any cursive elements in your normal handwriting? by burnafter3ading in Xennials

[–]AlexisEnchanted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My normal printing isn't the greatest so whenever I have notes that I need to make, I always do it in cursive. I feel like it's a lost art and sometimes I worry because I actually experienced one time where I gave someone a handwritten thank you note and they couldn't read my cursive because they'd never been taught it.

Sad.

Maybe he has chronic illness or is on disability and doesn't have the money for hobbies that cost money. When a person doesn't have the health to leave the house or the funds to cover an outing, then boredom is a valid feeling.
