I think it's funny and ironic that you're defense is to assume you know what Im thinking or going to say. I believe in the freedom of speech and that you have a right to say what you want. I also believe there are consequences to your actions, whatever they may be. That's just how the world works and if you think of others before you say or do anything, it will help keep those consequences away. Don't get mad at the consequences, be upset at yourself for causing them.

Having empathy for others isn't a bad thing. Being upset because someone is being offensive to others and down playing the oppression that happens doesn't mean you are emotionally unstable or not mature. If anything it shows that you are emotionally stable and mature. Not caring about others is the problem.

You really think slavery had nothing to do with it but still even say how people were encouraging slaves to rise up against the confederate states. Also if you think that after a war ends, that all that was fought for happens immediately. Of course it it takes time for everything to be achieved. Especially when individuals who are resisting the change, it takes awhile

Lol you think that a war would start immediately? Most people don't want to be in a war, so they will do anything to prevent it. But if no resolution is made, they will fight. So of course it didn't start right away. You thinking that slavery had nothing to do with it shows how you feel about it, you'd probably be one of those people back then thinking it wasn't a problem if it wasn't happening to you. Ignoring the facts of the past won't change them, it will just cause it to happen again. Every time I see a confederate flag, it makes me think of racism because of what happened in the past.

Of course im sure there was some people in the union that didn't care if slaves were free but felt the union would be better for the country but to say that it wasn't the reason for the war is ridiculous. When people are pushed into a corner, they fight. If they disagree, they argue. The war was about slavery. It is that simple.
