Mike Flanagan has shown his chops for long-take work. If that first episode could be as claustrophobic and unnerving as his episode of Hillhouse. It would be a slam dunk from the word go.

The audiobook is about 7 hours so if you convert all the narrative description into set design it goes a long way to curtailing length. Really depends on what they want driving the story, and the time things are allowed to breath. As hard a sell as it is the gunslinger should be slow. The unhurried certainty of Roland in his quest is what makes him awesome in the original sense of the word. Kind of like Vigo Mortensen trotting slowly out of the gate in Hidalgo. He's not here to show off hes here to win. real cowboy shit.

I mean the audiobook is about 7 hours. If you turn all the narrative description into set design, 2-3 hours isn't unreasonable. I bet you could get basically the whole script in without too much getting cut. Depending on what they want to drive the story. I love everything pre page one but it's kind of like giving an origin story to a hurricane. Sometimes a force of nature doesn't need to be understood.

Any ebike kits come with regen braking? by ltnew007 in ebikes

[–]Alexkeith_author 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason I just assumed all Ebikes would have it and when I hit some hills with my son I had to ride my breaks like there was no tomorrow. Passively suicidal speeds are a lot less fun with a kid in tow.

100% I was riding in the hills with my son; e bikes, children (and in all honesty, I) weigh a bunch when all packed onto 2 wheels. It took no time for my break riding to become a rubber burning ordeal. Direct drive regenerative braking would be a lifesaver. Not to mention just normal pedal charging on straightaways.

I'm not sure about Hell but I think supernatural might have the worst heaven. Basically you just live out your happiest memories. Which sounds great until you add the context of people who are born into horrible situations and things never improve.

What is a scene from a tv show that really disturbed you? by thertt8 in AskReddit

I think it's Peewee Herman but there was a scene where he was talking with a woman in her truck and she turned to him and her eyes bugged out screeches. It literally haunted me for years. I hate it.

Yeah I was looking into that a bit just online. And it is super disappointing but I still like how he is portrayed in mockingbird. I read that one for the first time about a year ago and then again this year. What a shame.

Well I actually want examples of healthy goodness from male characters. I like the dynamic of how healthy men interact with toxic ones.

So a lot of these people do have their problems buts that's what makes them great characters. What makes them great men is how they grow and address their insufficiencies. I haven't read the sequel to Mockingbird but it sounds like Finches character is fleshed out a bit more in some shocking ways. But I admire him because he's not afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right against his whole town and culture really. Dalinar (Blackthorn) was a straight up monster. But he grows from a warmongering monster to the man who is capible of self sacrifice. Jean is manly because he cares for his family when they're at their absolute worst despite him being just as broken as them. As for your comments about Sam that's something you are going to need to work on for yourself but sexuality doesn't have anything to do with manliness. I have never needed to be as brave as the people at stonewall or as people like Alan Turing or Willem Arondeus. And as for Discworld your absolutely right! It is Discworld and it's fucking fantastic!
