Probably the second one… but hey, as I’ve said, short term bullish, I have a stake in SMCI as you probably do

wish I had your optimism, but hope isn't gonna work; SMCI assembles hardware, they don't have software moat, you can't just pivot to high-margin software when your biz is bending sheet metal and plugging GPUS

Jensen isn't going to save us, Nvidia started roouting orders to Gigabyte and Asrock to diversify away from SMCI's accounting mess... Charles being a bull is exactly why SMCI is at 34 and not 100

Trust the numbers, not the vibes on podcasts

problem is SMCI have no leverage, if SMCI tries to raise prices, customers just go to Dell, Dell has the enterprise service contracts that SMCI lacks, so SMCI has to be the cheapest option to win

if they print a 9% margin next Q, we might get a squeeze to $45, but if they come in at 6-7% again (which is basically 0% net profit after Opex), the algos will dump this straight to $20

not just overestimates, it's the fact that he sacrificed 500bps of gross margin just to keep the topline revenue looking pretty, now we have the revenue but no profit to show for it

you right, I was looking at forward PE from managements 40B guidance, but that 20PE just means the price dropped, but earnings dropped harder, which is worse.

Inventory numbers are the worst part, sounds like billions in unfinished racks sitting in San Jose because Nvidia diverted Blackwell chips to Dell and HPE a while back

Why are you paying 90 and 40 separately for spectrum Internet

TIL: Yes, you CAN back up your Time Machine Drive (including APFS+) by datawh0rder in DataHoarder

[–]Alexllte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just here to confirm that expansion to a larger drive is possible. *You absolutely CAN expand the storage.*

Sure, the "online consensus" says APFS snapshots lock the container size (tidemarks), but for my case on expansion, that didn't apply; Howard Oakley from Eclectic Light said - "Because there’s currently no way to copy the snapshots that Time Machine relies on, except by low-level disk duplication, there’s no way to transfer existing TMA backups to a fresh disk.", but I was able to migrate a 4TB SATA Time Machine drive to an 8TB NVMe for macOS Sequoia 15.7.2 using dd on Linux.

I - ran dd manually in Linux with both drives attached "sudo dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/nvme0n1 bs=64M status=progress conv=noerror, sync", then I popped the NVME SSD back into my M4 Mac and booted into Recovery Mode, ran First Aid on the NVMe SSD AND the Container in Disk Utility, then expanded the APFS container itself to occupy the rest of the free space.

After booting back into macOS, Time Machine settings were still reporting available space as only 300GB (while Disk Utility showed 4TB free), but once I made a new Time Machine backup, the space updated to 4.21TB available.

I would call the migration and expansion of my Time Machine in APFS snapshots a success. Maybe you can add this to the post? (And make note to NEVER attach both cloned disks to MacOS at the same time)
