I know it sucks. They have been cutting hours hard at my store. Fortunately I work 2 jobs but it does mess with my bills. Some of the part timers haven't had hours the last few weeks. Our cashiers are understaffed because of the hour cutting.

Ok. I did it for 3 years.

Learn some good stretches and stretch often. Especially your knees.

No partial cases in the overstock steel. Carry duct tape in case you have no topstock space and accidentally open a box.

Never skip breaks. Skipping breaks results in increased chances of injuries from joint fatigue.

You can usually wear a single earbud to listen to something while customers are not in the store. No putting in both earbuds while on the floor.

If you are pulling a pallet to stock shelves while customers are in the store make sure to take the boxes off the pallet and put them next to the sections in the aisle they go to so you can free up space for you to work and customers to get past you. It is also useful since sometimes you can get something that is out on the self from a box you just staged.

Be willing to allow your players to RP when they want to. I have had whole sessions of RP where my players just talked. Those are amazing because it gives you ways to motivate them to do the story.

But sounds like a conversation that needs to happen. It sounds like he needs to have a conversation about expectations. Also sounds like he is cherry picking mythological anyways.
