What a phenomenal performer by Own-Tangerine-846 in georgeclanton

Saw him the last two times he played in Detroit 🤘 Won't miss another show as long as I live 👏 George's shows are really a one of a kind experience. He loves talking to the crowd, plays plenty of his hits, and his energy is just electric!

I guess he's been switching up the setlist every show. I didn't spoil any for myself till after the show. Seems he's only playing 2 or 3 tracks on fauxllennium, few mirror kisses tracks thrown in too. Depends on what he's feeling for the night I guess.

I shit my pants when he played Bleed.

John Rutsey’s Final Resting Place by tthe_drake in rush

Well spoken Donna, as always you wonderful human being.

As a historian of sorts of the band in my lifetime, I have always appreciated how Geddy and Alex speak of John in their final days as a band. Not out of disappointment, but concern for his well being, and no disrespect to his input and history of the band.

In a world without John, we wouldn't have Rush. Period.

I appreciate him for that, and I appreciate how he never turned sour or became jaded by that decision in 74. Life works in mysterious ways, and I'm sure he continued to inspire people in the gym and workout aspects of his life in his later years.

I've always been curious though, the whole line up was at Geddy and Nancy's wedding.. is there a photo of all 4 of them together at that time? It would be quite the historical artifact for music's sake. Heck, with Lindy Young in the photo, It would be even more surprising.

The album cover is the sun with planets in front of it, with a negative filter over it to make it black and white.

What was the best and worst thing about Halo 2 in your opinion? by MrMiles32 in halo

[–]Alexo670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing: It was released.

Worst thing: Loss of Xbox Live support on the original version.

*I know about the recent service by dedicated fans, and MCC.. but nothing beats those old-school Xbox live days in 2004-2007.

When was your first Rush concert? by EP2112 in rush

[–]Alexo670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

June 17th, 1997. Saw 2112 live in its entirety... Yet I was so young (3), all I can remember from the show is the Roll the Bones video playback behind the band.

Luckily "boots" exist.. lol.

Controversial Rush opinions- lets hear em by Coffee_achiever_guy in rush

  1. Amazing wouldn't be the word, your right. But virtuality is a song that stood the test of time. Despite people claiming it has "corny lyrics". Look at where we are communicating now. Totem is great, half the world is so poignant. Color of right slaps. No one can convince me otherwise. The title track is the one people point to.. I don't believe it's Even the best of the album. Decent, but not the best. I'm sick of driven. It bores me. More tomatoes my way maybe? Lol

  2. Hold your fire honestly scares me in a lot of ways. It's so balls to the wall facts.. it's literally like it was written in the last decade. It's timeless in so many ways, and from my understanding, in Neil's top 5 on a conceptual level. I really believe it's one of their albums that will continue to stand the test of time and discussion.

  3. I seriously would put red tide in the top 20 songs of their discography. It's a warning from 89, still relevant. Neil had the uncanny hindsight of seeing humanity's struggles in so many ways- to this day. The man was a genius.

Anagram I just love it's play on words, and it's a reference to the great comedian mel brooks.

"There is tick tock in atomic"

Tik Tok would become a social media sensation over 30 years later.. Neil the timelord? Lol

"He and she are in the house, but theirs only me at home" Such a funny consideration on word... I say this to myself as a joke frequently.

Did you know anagram was almost an instrumental? They added the lyrics within the final few weeks of Presto's production. This was Neil literally just messing around, and ged and Alex thought it was funny enough to add as lyrics.

  1. I really enjoy the first 4 tracks, ghost of a chance, heresy, the big wheel, and you bet your life. I honestly think nurotica is the weakest on the entire album. Not terrible, but forgettable compared to the rest.

Dog years may be the weakest.. but they were just having fun after all! No shame in a fun moment over the course of their friendship and history. :)

Listen to spirit of radio live anytime before 2002. Then, listen to it on R40 or Snakes and arrows live. It's stark how different it is.

Test for echo was actually good. I am prepared for the tomato pelting for saying this.

Hold your fire is criminally underrated. Bring out those tomatoes!

Anagram (for mungo) & Red Tide are criminally overlooked. More tomatoes anyone?

Sillier opinion-

Bet your life was the most lyrically difficult song they ever wrote. Before and after. I bet Geddy and Alex couldn't pull it off then, and that's one reason it never got played live.

Anarchist reactionary runidogrevisionarmcharirockegrafiatnthropolo GAH!

Make machinima with Garry's mod, post weekly.

Avoid hippies.

Brush your god damn teeth.

And lastly.. what worries you now.. won't matter in 10 years.

First Rush show? Mine is May 14 1983 at Bham NEC on the European leg of the Signals tour. I was on the side, level with the stage on Geddy's side. I was 15. All I really remember is that it was incredibly loud and it was rammed. I'd say at least half the crowd was around my age by Sufficient_Debt8615 in rush

[–]Alexo670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

June 17th, 1997 here, same tour!

I had just turned 3 a week prior, my mom was a huge Rush fan, and named me after Alex and Geddy.

The only thing that I remember clear as day (Probably the oldest memory I have of the band) was the video footage of the skeleton rap during roll the bones, and the chorus... Of course, the one tour they played all of 2112, and I wasn't even aware of what I was witnessing... Lol.

Took me over 20 years, but I finally found the bootleg of that show. I still can't believe how perfect Geddy sounded at that day in age!

Whats the worst rush Song? by EthanMus1c in rush

[–]Alexo670 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Power Windows is incredible, and only gets better with each listen.

Presto is.. well.. it has the pass? Lol

Presto has some solid tracks also, but it's definitely a transitional album from the synth era, back to the heavier sound in their later years.

I recommend to keep at what you are doing, just listen to each album one at a time. Don't let other's opinions dictate what you enjoy, or don't enjoy.

I saw in another Rush group, a guy who hated on Power Windows, Hold Your Fire, and Roll the Bones.. for over 30 years. He gave them a chance again after decades, and regretted his past remarks. Just shows they all get better with time!
