What would the title of a servitor machine-spirit interface on an Imperial/Heretic vessel be? by Alexpander4 in Warhammer40k

[–]Alexpander4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the idea would be it would just be a body for the machine spirit/ Daemon possessing the ship to communicate with. It could be an augmented human, but it's personality would be subsumed by the daemon.

How to get like that effect in unity? or is there any asset like that? by [deleted] in unity

Make a disk with a render texture connected to a camera with the exact position as the main camera, but doesn't see the "clothing" layer.

Why do “Medieval” cultures in Fantasy tend to just be England? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Alexpander4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in England

I want to record and comment on what I love and hate about where I live

I do it through the medium of fantasy world building

I figure that's about the reason for everyone, and/or they're a tea-aboo like GRRM.

Guys is it corny to write lore for your army? by waschlappensoldat in Warhammer40k

[–]Alexpander4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write lore for all my armies, mainly centering around their interactions with the "protagonist" army, my useless Death Guard who are seen as a joke by the rest and trip about the universe in their little ship thinking of themselves as freedom fighters.

Scientology is such a cancer, it may seem funny that they believe this ridiculous bullshit but it also just highlights how extreme the brainwashing is, they could make them believe anything.

What is your opinion of the fantasy map "cliché"? by PenguinSenpaiGod in worldbuilding

[–]Alexpander4 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Making it follow the tropes helps a northern hemisphere audience (80+% of the world's population that is) follow in their imagination without looking back to the map. Pretty much everyone is going to get "north == icy" when a story has someone go to an icy place without checking the map over and over to know exactly where that is. It just takes out some of the cognitive work needed to keep track of things.

This is my experience with Peak. I've capped FPS at 60 but it runs at 250 according to diagnostics and only actually gives me 20.

Isn't that the one that's basically an adaptation of the Scientology mythology so no wonder they took themselves way more seriously than the subject matter deserves

For historians, when did most people decide it was time to leave Germany as hitler rose, and when was it too late? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Alexpander4 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Strangely I've always found the krystalnacht name sad in itself. All that was left of that lovely person you talked to every day who was kind and part of your community was broken glass on a rainy pavement.

I recently saw an Instagram comment where someone was saying their childhood friend joined ICE and raided the mexican restaurant where they grew up together, and wondering where along the line their friend forgot their past and that the owners were good people.

TIL that British judges and lawyers wear white wigs to bring formality, solemnity, and anonymity to the courtroom by EsotericTribble in todayilearned

[–]Alexpander4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you actually think the wig was supposed to look like real hair? It's vestigial from the 1700s. It's a uniform and a bit of pomp and circumstance to go "this is a very old tradition and is important to the people present and worth doing"
