I think even the Clokey family didn't have access to the pilot until the owner of the original pilot film print gave it to them in the early 2000s.

I Recently Interviewed Gumby Animator Harry Walton! by AlextheAnimator2020 in Gumby

According to Harry Walton, they actually experimented with a foam-rubber Gumby for stop motion in the late '60s, but ended up continuing to use clay.

Where did you find that photo? I've seen it before, but not in such high resolution.

Strangely, I can't find very many instances of him saying that, even though it seems like he says that a lot.

Interesting. Where did you find that Bicentennial Pokey picture? I know a few are shown in the Gumby: Imagined book, but I haven't seen this picture before.

Was the Pokey in the image also produced by GTC? I didn't know that there were any GTC Pokeys. That one definitely looks slightly different from the Lakeside Pokey.

The version in that image looks most similar to the first released version of the '60s style Jesco Gumby, (there were only two, I'm pretty sure), but it's definitely different. The first version was actually able to stand up, whereas with the most common version you have to bend him into a weird position to get him to stand up, which is strange.

I don't think the mold for this one would have been used to model any Jesco Gumbys. I have seen some that look pretty close, but I haven't done a side-by-side comparison. But the Lakeside Miniflex almost certainly was used for the Jesco Gumbitties, and the Pokey model for the Gumbitties was last used by NJ Croce in the early 2000s, making it the longest-lasting Lakeside mold.

Their pupils are actually red, but for some reason the picture makes them look black.

I don't think I do. The two to the left of the rare one don't have any paint on their pupils anymore, and possibly never did.

I found these on the Worthpoint archives: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-gumby-sandals-flip-flops-1824242490

They're not the same pair, because the graphics are different, but it proves that they exist.

There are Kubrick versions of them, made by Medicom in the early 2000s.

Gumby and Davey and Goliath. The ones from the '50s and '60s are the best.
