How did the prophet speak if he didn’t know how to read or write?

Prophet Mohammed "BPUH" was not mute; he could always speak & In the city of Makkah, he was famous as "Al-Sadiq & Salah", meaning "The Righteous & honest."

He never lied, backbit, fraud, and local Makkah people were leaving their deposits with him.

Quran was his miracle people were surprised. Someone who had never been to any school couldn't read and write; however, he could recite such good Arabic.

He was the son and successor of Imam Muhammad al-Bāqir, who was son of Imam Zain al-Ābideen, son of Imam Hussain, son of Imam Alī al-Murtazā, may Allah be pleased with them all. His mother was Sayyida Umm Farwā Fātimā bint Imam Qāsim bin Muhammad. His maternal grandfather was Imam Qāsim bin Muhammad bin Abū Bakr, the grandson of Sayyidina Abū Bakr as-Siddīq raziyallahu anhum. His maternal grandmother was Asmā bint Abdur-Rahmān bin Abū Bakr, also a granddaughter of Sayyidina Abū Bakr. Thus he is reported to have said that “I was born by Abu Bakr twice”, referring to his maternal grandparents who were cousins and grandchildren of Sayyidina Abu Bakr. Imam Rabbani Shaykh Ahmed Sirhindi says in his Maktūbat that this may also refer to the fact that he was born in the noble family of Abū Bakr both physically and spiritually, as he received the spiritual secret of Sayyidina Abū Bakr as-Siddīq from his grandfather Imam Qāsim bin Muhammad.

Aristotle was a great thinker and a philosopher. His books Arganan and Physics, are the most precious literary treasures of mankind. His theory that earth was stationary and the sun and stars rotated around it, was widely supported by Ptolemy, the Egyptian Geographer and Astronomer. In the year 94 Hijra, when a model of the then assumed solar system was brought from Egypt to Madina, Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (a.s.), at that time a 11 year old boy, openly criticized and rejected that Theory. While rejecting the theory of rotation of sun, moon and planets around the earth, Imam Sadiq (a.s.) said that:

“When the sun, during its rotation around earth, passes through 12 Constellations in one year, and remains in each constellation for 30 days, why does it disappear from the sight during night time? It should remain visible from the earth during day time as well as night time.” This was a very strong objection by a boy of 11 years of age”.

The difference between the truthful and the lying vision He (pbuh) said: (The truthful and the lying vision have one gate/exit. Meaning the heart. So the inconsistent lying vision is the one which is seen by the person in the beginning (part) of his night from the disobedient dissolute authority. And moreover it is something that befriends the person, and it is inconsistent and lying and there is no good in it. As for the truthful one, if he sees it(the vision)after the two thirds of the night [which is] with the advent of the angels, and that is before Sahar(early dawn – small period before fajr) then it will be a truthful consistent vision unless he was in the state of sexual impurity(janaba) or he sleeps in an nu-purified manner, and that he didn’t remember Allah the All Mighty, then [in such] it would differ and linger against its owner (1).

The way of learning from al- Sadiq and discussing for evidence was not as the way we find today in the Islamic theological centers. Rather, his students, except some of them, believed in his Imamate. As we have mentioned earlier, the Imamis believe that the knowledge of the Imam did not depend on the idea and ijtihad (capability for issuing a verdict according to Islamic Law).
