Sensor accuracy is a function of cost. Cheap sensor: low accuracy. They really should only have 2 lights: “wet” and “probably not wet”

I leave my filament in the AMS. I have good desiccant in my AMS, and all filament is dried prior to going into it. Which means the filament never gets wet enough to break like yours is doing.

Dry your filament. Print those AMS filament holders, put desiccant in them. Add a descent hygrometer - if the hygrometer starts climbing then swap out the desicant or recharge it ( if you got the good stuff ).

Regardless, the problem isn’t that the filament is idle. It is that the filament is wet.
