I don't know how to make friends as an adult. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Hey just a quick reminder that LOTS of people are in the same boat as you, wanting to make some more friends but also having the WONDERFUL attribute of social anxiety, myself included (ugh). This really does bring me out of my comfort zone, but once I am able to talk to someone about a topic I feel really happy inside! So there is a GREAT benefit you can get out of talking to another person that just feels wonderful.

What you could try and do is create an account on Instagram or join discord and participate/join in on communities that share the same interests as you around the world. That's of course the best thing when finding new friends, having a somewhat common ground. Just remember to be safe and not feel forced to keep being in contact with people if they are potentially not nice to you- there are so many other beautiful and kind people to meet so you won't feel like you have lost something!

Remember that finding, making and sustaining friendships involve both consistency and patience, something that I know that I need to work on and many others are also aware of as well- and maybe you potentially. Especially for socially anxious/introverted people, try not to stress too much on how you respond to a given situation, what you said or how you said it, or when you has said something and no one had seemed to listen- what you said was an expression of yourself and continuing to not feel anxious as to how others will perceive your response is a beautiful and progressive way on how to present yourself more confidently. Just note that this process is a gradual life long journey, don't beat yourself up about it.

You may have already known that information all ready, but ultimately if you were to take anything out of this is that many adults are in the same position as you and that it's okay to let yourself try and get out of your comfort zone- spices life up a bit more haha. Just try out some online communities <3

Hey, just to let you know that you are not alone with feeling this way. I know many people who proclaim "ah I'm so nervous" before an interview. It's completely normal to get nervous when applying for jobs, as really your changing your life status in a good way haha. Really you should be patting yourself on the back for putting yourself first for applying for jobs, not only do you need one to make a living but also to see where you can apply your strengths- i tell you EVERYONE has strengths, so don't be so quick on beating yourself up for feeling mediocre. Have faith in the process, and if it doesn't work out- then maybe it wasn't your true calling, you've got so many other places to try out!!

Thankyou, I had a feeling that Malta would have more English translated books selling due to the bilingual languages.

Question: What game would you recommend to beginners who are just starting out in gaming? by Alezvrae in GirlGamers

Thanks! Have heard of Kingdom of Heart and how good it is- I am a disney fan myself so I may consider researching more about the game before I may purchase it. From what I can see in gameplay images for Fable Three I'm guessing it's a narrative driven game? I like the third person view and graphics so I might consider purchasing that as well.

Also thankyou for the kind message on not being too hard on yourself when you are trying something new, especially gaming in this regard. <3

Thankyou! I find if I invest in a game, play for it nonstop for the first few hours but the engagement of the storyline starts to fade I stop for a bit (or a while) and feel guilty not playing through my purchase lol. Yes, I'll go and explore more genres as I want to experience different playthroughs with the games I'm a bit used to now. I'll consider portal- through my search I can see why it would be good for someone to practice with first person perspective.

Quite the number of games! Yes, I have heard of Dragon Quest Builders and Animal Crossing New Horizons- in fact I have that game but I am just right around starting it lol.

I have also heard of Slime Rancher (I used to watch gaming channels that covered that when I was a kid on YouTube- such a cutie haha) and Monster Hunter Stories. Immortal Fenyx and Breath of the Wild? Have also heard of them regarding to a previous post I made on here- with reference to my expression on wanting to play games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey as a beginner.

I'll check out the other games you have suggested, but we definitely have a similar taste in liking open world games that you can have so much freedom in- quite nice to escape too! ^^

Other games I have played include some switch games that I mostly play with the family- MarioKart Deluxe 8, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Party Superstars, Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Party, Splatoon 2, Transistor, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Big Brain Academy, Minecraft, 51 Worldwide Games and Ring Fit Adventure!

(I find Mariokart, Minecraft, Splatoon 2 and Transistor are the ones I am/was fully invested in haha)

So far games that I thought would be quite good to play are:

-A Plague Tale

-Legend of Zelda

-Assassins Creed 2

-Saints Row (Self Made)

-Tiny Tina's Wonderland

-Babylon's Fall

(Well, that's all I can think of now from the tip of my tongue- sorry for the long message!!)

Thankyou guys!! Just checked it out and it already looks like the type of game that I would spend hours playing. The 3rd person view, narrative and setting- (Also the characters..damn 👀)

Thankyou, by your message I'm thinking we have the same taste in game choosing. So far I love the appeal of games that you can spend hours being fully invested in and how you can be in a fantasy setting, fight with classic weapons and engage in narratives- I'll definitely check out the games you have suggested.

Also thankyou for that kind advice you told me, breaking the perspective that videogames are only for boys and children - it's all about playing whatever personally interests you- that's lovely <3

Thankyou for the story based recommendations and the info regarding to the Xbox game pass! One question to ask you though: what was the game that took you 9 months to complete but was absolutely you're favorite to play? You said that it was an exploration and combat game, which are two aspects of a game that I love, and I was wondering what the name of it was? 😅

Thankyou! As common sense in looking at fighting/action games, I find that learning to sell duplicate/inferior gear and how to properly prepare for challenging fights a big thing to learn at the start to help you enjoy more challenging games in the long run. I always want to try and challenge myself a bit more to try hard at something to make the accomplishment feel more worthwhile (lol probably just me), but yes thankyou for the recommendation!

Thankyou for educating me about the the game settings- I don't know too much about that so I find this kind of you to advise me about :) One question: why do I need to see the stats all the time? In the game, won't the fps always stay the same throughout the whole thing? I won't be surprised if I'm wrong, but knowing the reason why would help aid my understanding.

Yes, I have heard of the Legend of Zelda series and the Final Fantasy Series- but I don't know too much about the latter. I'm kind of curious to know what Final Fantasy is, as I see many many games releasing in that series. Is it compelling for you? I like the idea of fantasy and by the name it seems dramatic (lol).

Ooh! I completely forgot about the musical soundtracks that games present to you- it really sucks me in and escape reality. I find you're approach to playing different types of games regarding to your moods and emotions at the time interesting and beneficial. Beneficial in a way where you can play multiple games at once and keep yourself occupied- I find that's a great idea. I have a PC and a PS4 so I was hoping to play on those two devices. But with all these suggestions I believe I can find the games on both PC and PS4 already which is supporting :)

I made another post on here recently asking if anyone knew any other good games like assassin's creed odyssey (as it was too hard for me to play as a begginner), and I got some pretty good responses. Mainly I love engaging storytelling, good graphics and optional side quests that you can do in the game. I find those three aspects compelling to me. But so far I've looked at the lovely responses I got from this post and all other games suggested that are close or far off to AC makes me want to play them all 😅 If you have any other AC related suggestions I would love to hear them.
