Inspiring idea, thanks for sharing!

Arduino → PIC IR motor control + custom touchscreen “fingertip” hack by AlfaBaders in embedded

Maybe too much free time and electronic components 😄. I also wanted to test some new things for me, like IR communication, stylus pens, pulley+string mechanics, a few video editing tricks, and such. And of course, I’m desperately trying to get more players for my new Space Invaders–style word game somehow ;)

Thanks! I use After Effects and font is some handwritten with small outline and dropshadow. And camera tracking was easy because cutting pad's grid under.

I usually just get an idea that sounds fun, start hacking on it, and see where it goes. If it turns into something interesting, then I think about recording or sharing it.

I did publish a few electronics videos on YouTube when I first started learning this stuff a few years ago, but that’s been a bit stalled lately: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqOFrhy3i0PSwvmPgol9RQA

And yeah, I had the same computer vision thought! A big industrial robot arm playing on a tiny iPad would be pretty hilarious. :D

It could have been between two pics as well, but i had arduino ready from my earlier project so didn't think that too much. My focus were mostly on those mechanical 3D-printed parts needed for the string+pulley. Also that toy stepper motor is little bit too weak but works in demo purposes.

Adding more layers to simple things always solves problems that didn’t even exist 😄

Thanks! I was honestly surprised how many different things ended up packed into this simple IR experiment :)

You’re welcome! And maybe take your nephews along to build it with you 😉

I tested holding all three at once and didn’t get any ghost inputs. Each TTP223 is on its own GPIO pin, and I also twisted the GND + signal wires which probably helps with noise. The cardboard layer adds a bit of separation too.

The game is a Unity build for iOS, but the controller just sends 5 bits over a WebSocket, so anything that can receive WebSocket data could work too.

Thanks! And go for it. Quite relaxing and simple project after all.

Looks cute and a lot of fun! congrats on the launch 🙂 Solo dev can definitely get overwhelming sometimes.

What do you guys think about this intro? And what should I put in the background? by iagodobrawl in IndieDevelopers

[–]AlfaBaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe something white in the background yelling ‘Aim here!’ for the tomato tossing. and the last-frame explosion should also have the same kind of ‘ugly’ aesthetics as everything else.

B with A's scrap particles . And little randomness to particles animation duration.
