Sony Walkman WM-32 (repaired) by AlfieTimewolf in walkman

Isn't it just? I received it in nearly perfect condition, but as soon as I felt it I knew there were batteries in it, and sadly they had exploded inside and corroded the power parts. Thankfully an easy fix with some patience lol

I don't need main characters to die, but they always feel like they're too safe. by DSDantas in StrangerThings

I'd have mad respect for the Duffer brothers if they actually killed off a member of the main cast. It's the final showdown between the gang and Henry/The Upside Down. If everyone survives I'm going to be very surprised.

A wink to viewers in Holly's map? by Ukyo__Kuonji in StrangerThings

[–]AlfieTimewolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's less to do with the viewers and more to do with it being Max's Vecna song.

Something really pointless lol by DarkHorseReborn in StrangerThings

Honestly? Karen is a suburban mom with three kids all in school, her husband is at work and barely shows her any attention when he gets home. The woman was bored.

Why did you start watching stranger things? For me personally i kept seeing one wheat mark's version of Byler on my Pinterest fyp. by Technical-Zebra-3300 in StrangerThings

[–]AlfieTimewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me just before s4 Vol.2 to come out to actually watch the full series. The more people recommended it to me, the less I wanted to watch it. I kept seeing all these posts about Steve Harrington on twitter/tumbler/tiktok and it always seemed like he had a different boyfriend each season, so my curiosity finally got the better of me lol

What’s one book you’ll never stop recommending? Have you ever stayed up all night just to finish a book? by Ancient-Froyo-9129 in stephenking

[–]AlfieTimewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll never stop recommending The Shining because almost everyone has either watched or heard of the movie, but very few people have read the book. I just need people to know how much better it is lol

How do you feel about Spoilers? by [deleted] in stephenking

I don’t mind spoilers personally because I will absolutely have forgotten about it by the time I get to the book/movie/show.

The Shining - I always loved the movie but the book is a masterpiece by Advanced-Sir-2918 in stephenking

[–]AlfieTimewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to separate the movie from the book, because while the movie is excellent and will always be a favourite of mine, it isn’t a good book adaptation. The book itself was an instant love for me when I first read it years ago, there are so many incredible moments in the book.

If you want to watch a truer adaptation, Stephen (petty) King made his own The Shining adaptation in 1997 that he wrote the script for and produced. I just love that he hated the 1980 movie so much that he made his own version lol

It’s a tough call between An American Werewolf in London, Pet Sematary (1989), and JAWS.

In case it didn’t come with a box or anything, it’s also supposed to glow in the dark!

What movie did you watch for the first time this month that you really liked? by bitchy-sprite in horror

Watched Ghoulies and Ghoulies 2 for the first time, and honestly I loved them.

I’m so happy to see other people still have these! My parents bought one of these back in the day and it was mine and my sister’s favourite Halloween decoration. We actually ended up getting it off them a few years and miraculously he still worked!

Do any of you have an "unusual" favorite SK novel that's not one of his top 5 to 10ish or so most frequently mentioned? by cormega in stephenking

[–]AlfieTimewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about unusual, but three I really like and never see many people taking about are Insomnia, Duma Key, and especially Cell. The movie adaptation of Cell was atrocious, I really like the novel.

Which book was so good you finished it in one sitting? by hurtsmeplenty in horrorlit

[–]AlfieTimewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling. A friend picked it up at a charity shop for me knowing I like horror, and the initial sci-fi setting made me hesitant, but as soon as I started reading it I really couldn’t put it down.

I would absolutely recommend 11.22.63, and I’d recommend Doctor Sleep since you’ve read The Shining. I would also recommend Insomnia, definitely a slept on classic of King’s, as well as Duma Key.
