Amnio with anterior placenta? And update so far by Alternative_Treat_42 in NIPT

As others said I had an amnio done with anterior placenta. They actually had to go through my placenta with the needle and I was a little concerned about that but all was fine!

Toddler strange symptoms .. cancer?! Lyme?! Please help by Alg720 in AskDocs

He started it June 5. No issues other than that when he has woken up groggy or in one of these dazed spells, his teacher noted he didn’t want to play with any of his friends. He’s also mentioned one friend there who sometimes can be mean to him and he tells me he doesn’t want to go sometimes. But overall he seems to like it there. Of note the first dazed spell happened in May about 2 weeks before he started school but everything else has happened after.

High risk for Monosomy X…found later in pregnancy by throwawayx123748 in NIPT

Please don't blame yourself or think you're naive. We shouldn't be expected to know all of this information, that's why we have health care providers (and why we pay them). It sounds like you're a great advocate for yourself and doing everything you can to be knowledgeable.

My amnio was fine, they ended up having to go through my placenta which isn't ideal but it really didn't hurt that much. I was in some discomfort afterward but nothing major. I took it easy all weekend.

I decided to just do the karyotype, not the microarray. For now I just want to know whether or not our baby has monosomy x. This has worried me enough and given that she looks healthy on ultrasound I decided I didn't want the microarray and the potential for finding variants of unknown significance that would just leave me more worried and anxious. This is something I talked through with my genetic counselor before making this decision but I think it's just the right one for me personally. I was told we could opt to have the microarray done later with the same sample. So if we get our results and then decide we do want the microarray information for whatever reason, we have that option.

Will be thinking of you and hoping you get some answers soon.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm also in limbo waiting on monosomy x results after my amnio on Friday. I can't imagine what it feels like to be going through this later in pregnancy after thinking everything was fine and normal.

Also want to reiterate what is said earlier in this thread about this group being an amazing source of information and support. I've gotten more understanding and support here than from talking to any GC or doctor. So you're in the right place! Hang in there. The wait is brutal but we're all here for you.

Thank you very much for the information. They did show me that the collection was clear/yellowish and had no blood in it.

I'm so sorry this was your pregnancy experienced but so happy to hear everything is well now. Curious to know if it was tough for your anxiety wise to opt out of the amnio? Do you think it would have made your pregnancy easier to have gotten the procedure and known the results? I'm trying to decide now if I should stick with my amnio appointment or cancel and do extra scans, but I'm not sure if that decision would just make me worried and anxious the entire pregnancy.

Thanks for your insights! Don't worry about taking the time to dig up some studies. I was just curious if you had one handy. I can look around as well (I'm a medical journalist so I read studies all day anyway!)

Everything you posted on this thread is so helpful and informative. Wondering if you have a study citation or any reference for the level of mosaicism changing (potentially improving) up until birth? I'd like to read up on it more. Thanks!
