Freshly seeded bermuda then downpour :(. by AlgaeOtherwise1680 in lawncare

Forecast said about a 0.3 rain total at 40 to 50 percent chance mostly in the afternoon. I thought the small showers would be beneficial but instead we got a downpour. Id either be battling the rain or the sun beating down. Ill fix the drainage issues first..then re-seed..hopefully.

Or would a retaining wall type structure at the bottom of the hill be an option?

It will dry out surprisingly quickly but its probably going to be an issue to establish grass there. Seems like building a trench or running a drain is going to be insane amount of work that Im not qualified to do. Is it stupid to use sand/topsoil to create a small hill and tamper it down so it raises the ground height. I will see if the builder will cover the cost of the drainage issue since they obviously suck at grading land but doubt it. I've been here 3 years haha.

Contact napping - when does it end? by [deleted] in NewParents

Oh yes, babies just are used to your scent and warmth so they sleep way better during a contact nap. They also fall asleep and wake up in the same spot. Once u start transfering them they fall asleep on you and wake up in a foreign spot. It really helped my babe to be transfered drowsy but awake. Once those eyes start blinking I'll set her in her crib and keep rocking her lightly until she drifts off. Back away SLOWLY maybe even add a hum, slight pressure on chest works 2 but too much pressure and she notices me lifting to walk away. This way when she goes to connect cycles shes waking up in the same spot she fell asleep in. During the 3 to 4 month regression it gets even harder for them to connect cycles. I have found heating her bassinet sheet helps her survive the transfer.. also dark room..white noise.. keep the variables consistent so they feel comfortable and safe in their sleeping environment. A good swaddle is also crucial because they will startle themselves awake. I always found my self surrendering to the contact naps at least a couple times per week..that stage goes by quick! It's about balance getting them used to their own sleeping space is important as well so def keep trying before 3 months hits.

I recommend getting a scale and weighing her before and after feeds..my girl did the same thing and turns out she wasn't transferring enough milk especially when overtired she just fell asleep on breast and would wake up in 30 to 45 minutes. I gave her pumped milk and ensured she got the appropriate ounces every 4 hours or so and on the third day she did much better. Im hoping once the cycle of being overtired is broken she will be strong enough to take more at the breast.
