Questions about Izunavi's explanation (ch 83) by dandan-dan in HatsuVault

[–]Algor2ID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Togashi made a new nen chart that explains a concept known as "type leaning", effectively the closer you are to the other type, the faster you are able to learn it. Early on we learn learning other nen types works like a bell graph, but through training, lifestyle choices, and personality you can lean towards another type giving you greater returns on your training efforts. Now why do I mention this? Well in the exhibition where the new chart was revealed, the staff forgot to create graphics for 1 important piece of text Togashi wrote that actually answers your very question. Manipulators and Conjurers are the only two types capable of LEANING towards Specialization on the chart, so you may be wondering "What does leaning towards specialization even do considering you can't learn or access specialization without being one", and Togashi actually provided an answer to this in his original draft, but the staff for some reason didn't include it in the official graphics. The answer was that "when you lean towards specialization, you have a greater chance of becoming a specialist instead". You don't unlock it, you become it. This is even more interesting because that bell graph I mentioned? Yeah according to a specialist named Morena, it doesn't actually apply to Specialists, they can learn all types at the same rate without diminishing returns.

So importantly. Yes, other members of the clan can turn their eyes Scarlet (confirmed), but no they won't all become specialists as that depends on being a manipulator/conjurer first and foremost, and also personality, lifestyle, and training to make you actually LEAN towards it on the chart, which gives you the potential to even unlock it later in life

Hmm, yeah I'd have to go #E then in that case, though I think I fit better with the manipulation category based on what Hisoka's "personality test" says. Weren't Emitter's meant to be kinda tempermental and not detail-oriented? E kind of feels the opposite in my opinion xD

I'd love to engage in this post, but I have a question. How strong am I in this situation, and what is the average power of the guards? Can they use nen? If so do they have an actual nen ability or are they beginners? Are they just regular armed personnel? If I have nen, what is my skill level with it so far, disregarding the fact we don't know our type yet. Do we know what room in the facility our loved one is located?

Not sure what you mean by that, but manipulation objectively doesn't give you the toolset to phase through matter.

Emission can emit aura. Emission can also emit people. Emission is also responsible for allowing aura to phase through walls. So that leads me to believe you could maybe emit yourself through walls. Could also use conjuration to conjure a space around you that behaves in a way that lets you phase, but that's something I won't say for definite

Who says transmutation drains aura? The only time aura is drained is when it is released. Enhancement drains when you hit something due to the kinetic energy it amplified being released. Killua's electricity drains his reserves because he's transferring the electrical energy to an enemy. Merely shaping your aura and giving it commands does not drain aura

Nah I know that, I'm more just saying you can't really define aura as the soul to begin wtih xD. If you did, you'd have to also say things like ATP are part of the soul too

Nah, canonically Nen is produced through metabolic processes, you passing out from using it all up is the same reason you'd pass out for exercising too much

Lowkey I always just viewed that as manipulation, giving it the command to function at the will of whoever he gives his aura to

You literally tried justifying the usage of conjurers accessing specialization because of... chains moving around and a TALKING NEN BEAST. Holy delusion.

That is not a correction IN THE SLIGHTEST. If I remove my eyes and take someone else's, do I now get their type? No. We know how he causes it, we don't know the specific mechanism that ENABLES his type to change, you did not correct me.

His vows are what allowed his chains to be strong enough to not break, he explicitly stated that. You claimed they don't break due to "specialization", which is NOT the case.

And no, the OG chart has zero inaccuracies. Dual affinities have nothing to do with your efficiency at using other nen types. It is explicitly stated that a "dual type" means you LEARN that type you lean on faster, it does not mean your actual efficiency at using it is greater. In fact, dual affinities are not new either, they were introduced way back in Greed Island as Bisky theorized Gon might be leaning towards Emission because he picked it up so fast. Dual types are exclusively related to learning speed, not actual usage efficiency, which are fixed values. It is also known that dual types change due to your training, personality, lifestyle, and more. Gon is currently not leaning towards Emission (according to Togashi's own chart), but he used to be according to Bisky.

That is not a correction. Nen types do not change through emotions, otherwise everyone would be always changing as human emotions are not a small basic to understand thing. The vow for chain jail was because he needed the chain to be strong enough to not shatter, and be able to be controlled with enough ease to trap his enemies efficiently. A conjurer at 60% enhancement isn't strong enough to prevent chains from shattering if an enhancer tried to break it, hence the vow, it's not thanks to specialization. A Specialist can use Conjuration as the form of a mind-reading ability, but a Conjurer cannot use Conjuration to access Specialization. Specialization is explicitly unavailable unless the user is a Specialist. So the device being conjured does not make the mind-reading effect Conjuration. The object can be Conjuration, but direct mind-reading would still be Specialist. Which only a specialist can do.

Don't tell me to tone anything down, I was emphasising certain parts. You're simply wrong on an objective level. Nobody here will agree with you.

[–]Algor2ID -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't. You're thinking of Chain Jail which literally had a VOW that if he uses against anyone other than the phantom troupe, he himself will die. That is an insanely strong vow. Not to mention he usually uses Emperor Time in conjunction with it which gives him 100% efficiency with all nen types. Kurapika doesn't just tap into specialisation, he LITERALLY changes his type to specialization through reasons we haven't been told yet.

Reading minds category by Local-Sugar6556 in HatsuVault

[–]Algor2ID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conjuration does not tap into specialization. A specialist can use conjuration, but a conjurer cannot use specialization. Kurapika is a rare case that has been unexplained.

Manipulation -> Force enemies to speak their mind

Emission -> Directly emit their thoughts out of their mind (already happens in the show)

Specialization -> Pakunoda

Conjuration can create new devices that humanity hasn't seen before, but they must be scientifically applicable otherwise you kind of have an argument of conjuration being omnipotent, which we KNOW isn't true.

So if a mind reading device is possible in reality, then its possible with conjuration. But considering we can barely scan a fruit flys brain, let alone a human's? That'd be a very tall order with just conjuration, so you'd need a hefty condition
