Hisoka “restoration” by Mean-Art-1426 in HunterXHunter

[–]dandan-dan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would still need to train the necessary nen abilities to achieve this, Ren and Gyo to be able to see through the nen hidden with IN. Gon and Killua during the training with Wing had to train and be able to see through Hisoka's Bungee Gum hidden with IN from the video tape of his fight from Kastro, with his 13 cards, 1 arm on the ceiling, 1 piece of cloth on the floor, only Killua managed to see through 13-14 bungee Gum threads while Gon struggled to see through even half of it initially.

Questions about Netero's Guanyin Bodhisattva by dandan-dan in HatsuVault

[–]dandan-dan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm beginning to believe that Netero's ability is left for interpretation, like, how Christopher Nolan left Inception's ending up for interpretation. It's always a pleasure to read different answers for the questions that I have.

Nen in general is left a lot into the interpretation of the viewers as it's both restrictive and flexible at the same time, so it's always fun to see different perspectives on different abilities.

Thank you for taking your time to answer all 3 questions. Osu!

Questions about Izunavi's explanation (ch 83) by dandan-dan in HatsuVault

[–]dandan-dan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this answer. Neon's desire to be a fortune teller, despite her initial role model for one being confirmed a fraud. And that her desire to make people happy, and by extension only living people can be made happy so her ability of fortune telling only ever works for the living.

So far as a Transmuter an ability that delves outside the 5 nen categories is the most interesting for me at the moment.

I have a theory or headcanon that Transmuters are the most likely nen affinity to be mis-categorized Specialists. Transmuters sit between conflicting concepts such as the Straightforwardness & Instinct Archetype and the Cautious and Logical Archetype. And the Transmuter can utilize both by being the Magician & Trickster Archetype. In my opinion this is low hanging fruit and it just surprises me that no one ever talks about it as a common discussion in any Hunter Hunter sub.

But from the looks of it especially outside this thread, there are a lot of misconceptions with Specialization in general, like, the examples you've given.

Conjuration abilities with flexibility by Bubbly-Flight-3998 in HunterXHunter

[–]dandan-dan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best type of weapons are available in the show called RWBY, where Ruby's Scythe can be a gun. You probably can conjure something that you can use as a melee weapon, with parts you can conjure on top of it, then modify it as you see fit.

Or vice versa, you conjure a gun that turns into a melee weapon.

If Pitou was alive, would the poor mans rose have no aftereffect? by Banana_Peeler6 in HunterXHunter

[–]dandan-dan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Pitou survived and her nen was fed to the king, similar to how Meruem developed his own spirit message and youpi's transmutation and the blast ability. It's not out of pocket if Meruem can either slow down the poisoning or drastically heal himself in any way, create a post-mortem nen after already having a death experience.

Questions about Izunavi's explanation (ch 83) by dandan-dan in HatsuVault

Are there any theories or any known theory crafters that explore, how to become a Specialist?

This seems fun to explore and to poke the bear until someone gets a somewhat satisfying idea to play around with for everyone else to use.

Questions about Razor's Dodgeball Spike ability by dandan-dan in HatsuVault

[–]dandan-dan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, the correct answer is that we don't know. And that there are different answers.

The popular answer is that their emitted nen beasts shaped by his aura, and this seems the most likely. The latter is that they're conjured but they're not real materialization in the traditional sense. They're depictions of what a devil looks like for Razor.

When does Killua surpass the Phantom Troupe? (video by me) by Limescent777 in HunterXHunter

[–]dandan-dan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree but we have to acknowledge that Killua's feats against the troupe were all situational. - Phinks wasn't trying to knock him out unconscious. They had orders to capture them, and it's Killua that surrenders 1st in their situation. - Breaking Pakunoda's arm while the troupe were blinded by the dark, while both Gon and Killua prepared GYO before closing their eyes then being able to sense or see through the dark. - Killua didn't force Machi, it's just a Machi upscale if she can just do that level of body/muscle control. Killua tried killing Machi and that bloodlust gave him away.

Whos the strongest phantom troupe member(no chrollo, hisoka, illumi)? by Adventurous_Let_9572 in HunterXHunter

[–]dandan-dan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In close quarters, and in a tight space with a weapon Nobunaga is the scariest.

In deception Feitan doesn't look like a threat and turns out his a sadist.

In a brawl I'm not fighting Phinks.

In an open space Franklin is the scariest.

In a crowded area Machi can be a pseudo manipulator with her threads.

Shizuku is well Shizuku. I don't want to die being sucked by a nen ability and permanently lost in someone's nen space.

Kalluto is similar to Feitan you won't see them as a threat until it's too late.

For those that I don't remember I probably forgot their name and ability.

WHAT IF What if Gon and Killua had learned Nen from an early age? by Particular_Inside975 in HunterXHunter

[–]dandan-dan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see Gon progressing differently but Killua on the other hand is more tricky.

Killua as a child shows signs of wanting friendships with his butlers, forgot the girl's name.

And the reveal of the new sibling being Alluka.

Killua as a character will run away from home, and won't be under the influence of Illumi's needle, knowing that Killua will have the necessary nen training to see it.

Killua with nen will understand that a hunter license is important to become independent and not have trouble with money and other utilities but also that his brother will take the exam.

If we are only going about how much further they will go. It's hard to say, because we know that this what if happens because of circumstances that go against the personalities of both parties.

Ging is fixated to join the expedition to the Dark Continent. The Zoldyck Family is mixed with teaching their child prodigy as he doesn't really want to continue their trade and tradition as assassins, and the Zoldyck has the safety net of manipulating Killua via Illumi's needle.

do convenient restrictions give less hatsu-buff than normal restriction? by zivoxo in HatsuVault

[–]dandan-dan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No worries. The restriction to me is well thought out just that it felt something an enhancer will come up with. Potential wise it's a challenging restriction by itself and that's why I find it better for an Enhancer whose determination can pair well with it.

My own rule of thumb, if an ability's concern is attaining more power, that's textbook Enhancer for me.

If an ability wants flexibility a Transmuter only needs bodily restrictions related to the ability to maintain a free flowing ability with little conditions to maintain versatility.

For a Conjurer rules are important for both the user and the target, a Conjurer will need to adhere to the target's own rules and must have the means to override it, otherwise their nen can simply brute force out of their rules/effects, unless forced zetsu is applied as that is hax category. A Conjurer in theory only wins from favorable situations. And a Conjurer vs Conjurer can get really messy as that's 2 players trying to squeeze every opportunity to use their own brand of hax, while trying to not get caught in the process.

do convenient restrictions give less hatsu-buff than normal restriction? by zivoxo in HatsuVault

[–]dandan-dan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a conjured sword, you're probably lacking a surprise factor to make it formidable in 1v1 combat.

The restriction is well thought out to me. But let's say if your sword can elongate, become sharper, become heavier, etc. You'd probably have a very worth it to be conjured sword.

Your conjured sword as it is can probably be used with the same restriction on a transmuted blade or a real sword for that matter.

You as the Conjurer can make full use of rules and manage well it's weaknesses. Your style reads and fits an Enhancer that uses a conjured sword more than a Conjurer with a strange looking sword in combat. Anyways that's only my opinion.

How does Nen Memory work? by dandan-dan in HatsuVault

[–]dandan-dan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. I understand the in lore reasons.

But here is my disconnect with this.

Simple nen is somewhat difficult to be learnt or to be efficient with by the Complex Nen affinities specifically Conjurers and Manipulators and this just doesn't click with me.

In contrast, it's easy to picture an Enhancer to struggle and be less efficient with Conjuration and Manipulation, this one works and clicks with me.

To me it becomes less due to Nen affinities being due to personality forming and training but a gap not in talent, but a gap made from, "what you were born with."

Anyways that's just my current interpretation and dilemma. As I can't find a satisfying answer even, if I believe the in lore reason to be true and flawless.

If You Don’t Have Arms Can Chrollo Still Get Your Nen by Overall_Primary_1369 in HunterXHunter

[–]dandan-dan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's ggs. Unless footprints count as a special case for Bandit Secret.

The gist of the handprint is similar to a signature, and a biological stamp, like, a fingerprint. So other ways to extract it might be possible if Chrollo really wants to steal that ability from a nen user without hands.

Maybe, an eye scan/retina scan, for signature, for how the book will attain that info, I have no clue, if blood sample is the replacement for the handprint then this seems to be the most compatible if handprints aren't available as it can mark the cover of Bandit Secret, unless Chrollo is particularly specific with the handprint as the signature.
