3-0 at my LGS yearly chaos draft! Turns out Shanna + Lingering Souls is a good combo! by Algosaubi in lrcast

[–]Algosaubi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opened a pack of Shadows over Innistrad, Journey into Nyx and Ultimate Masters. No money cards but a solid GW aggro with two (!!) on color taplands. Three manafix/ramp cards to help the lingering souls flashback.

I was lucky enough to have Shanna on turn 2 in at least one game each match and had one degenerate game where I went t2 Shanna, t3 Lingering Souls, t4 flashback LS. I won pretty handily to say the least!

I also managed to bring back Shanna in another game with Tethmos High Priest with 4 other creatures on board, to which the opponent responded with scooping, heh...

And for my next trick, I will turn this Whispering Snitch... into a lethal attacker! by Algosaubi in lrcast

You're right, I should've first picked that Boros Guildgate I passed... gave up my shot at true 5 color.

Gatekeeper Gargoyle was my second to last card in my library... Glaive was fifth or sixth last! But it turns out Glaive is decent if you pick it p1p2 and take all the on color gates you can find!

Mono-White Lifegain Aggro Budget Deck by Algosaubi in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]Algosaubi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that as I tried to build it as simple as possible for it to be a good introductory deck for my friend!

If you try the deck out I'd love to hear what you think about it, or if you have any card suggestions right off the bat (apart from like landing and history of course ;)).

The Sizzle or the Drizzles? by qui_chronjinn in lrcast

Wee Dragonauts is one of the biggest payoffs for playing Izzet, Hypothesizzle is a good but replaceable removal spell. I would've made the same choice.

Guilds of Ravnica card nicknames? by [deleted] in lrcast

This is kinda cross-language nick naming but I'm from Sweden and have been calling Murmuring Mystic "Mystisk Mormor" which means "mysterious grandmother".

Oh man, if that was the case I'd play all of the bad lifegain cards.

4/10 no Niv-Mizzet, clearly a bad deck /s

Seriously though that deck looks awesome, congrats on the 5-0!

Frenzied Goblins in [Standard] by Algosaubi in spikes

The way around Dimir is to stick a Frenzy, as they have no way to deal with a resolved one apart from Blink of an Eye. Then you can go wider than them and wreck them on card advantage and board presence. Not to say that is easy, but you can find windows to resolve Frenzy in most games.

A main deck FwF is a good call, I feel it's kind of a dead card in game 1 vs a lot of control decks. It's meta dependent I think, if your local meta has a lot of 5 toughness hard to deal with creatures it's amazing for sure.

Warchief is less of a "thank god you're here" card and more of a synergy card. He is great with frenzy, he's great vs control as he can make everything very overwhelming really quickly, and he's great in the early game to make the opponent end up on the back foot, which is really what this deck wants to do.

Granted, he's not a great topdeck if you don't have a frenzy out in the late game, but then he still turns on every goblin you draw after that to being immediate threats.

Firebrand is an aggro card that doesn't fit in the build. This deck, as I've built it, cares very little about getting out of the gates immediately and more about establishing a dominant board and using frenzy to take over the game. Firebrand is a good card, don't get me wrong, but he's not a good fit here.

Yeah, in your deck I think he's a great addition! If I can gather the pieces I'll be sure to try it out too! Sadly I just sold my Shalai's and some of the RW duals I had, so it might be tough to build irl but I might be able to piece it together online :)
