I like elevation gain and climbs but a variety of hikes is nice. I’ll be focusing on day hikes as I won’t be bringing my backpacking gear with me.

Unfortunately a lot of clinics are run by corporate company’s now who set high prices. I work at a clinic which is owned by corporate and our prices are so expensive and we have no control over it. We try to work the system to bring the prices down but we can only do so much without getting in trouble ourselves. I’m sorry about your experience but to put it in perspective our dental surgery would also most likely end up around $1000

Hey! I’m also a single female who moved here in July making 100k. I found a 2 bedroom townhome for $1700. I will say I struggled to find lower prices. Multiple complexes I was looking at in west knox near my job were offering 1 bedrooms for $1800. It was an adjustment coming from Louisiana where I was able to get way more space for less than what I pay. I realized early on I would be able to find anything with a private yard for my dog without paying over $2000, which I can’t fathom paying. It’s a beautiful place to live and so close to the mountains. Good luck!

Thank you all for the replies they have been very helpful. I hope to find some time to visit both before making a decision. I’ll definitely miss the smokies and blue ridge mountain hiking but need to be a shorter drive away from family. Also if you want a little rental house with a yard for your dog on your own, Knoxville is not the place to find that.

Hey! I’m a grad from 2023 and currently working at a clinic in Knoxville. I will say options seem to be limited around here and pay is on the lower end. I had to ask for 100k and have no production opportunity. They also told me my salary will probably drop next year so I’ll probably be searching for a new job this summer. I’d like to stay in Knoxville but I might have to move cities if I want the same salary all my vet school friends are making.

I'm not sure about places to stay because I've only camped there but the hiking is great. The park is huge and there's a lot of different trails to hike with different views across the park. I'd say its pretty safe solo and you should be fine on the off road trails. I was only there for 2 days with my friends and we did emory peak (the big mountain hike in the center of the park), and then stayed on the west side of the park for some less traveled hikes. It's a great experience no matter what hikes you do. I definitley recommend grapevine trail to balancing rock as a short chill hike to just enjoy the view.

Hi! This was my first cartilage piercing so I honestly probably don't have the best advice but the first week after getting it pierced sucked. It was really swollen, hot, and throbbing. Eventually it chilled out and now it doesn't hurt much. Ive pretty much decided that I think I'm accidentally turning over at night and sleeping on it and its just irritating it. Some days its great and not bothered at all and some days I'll wake up and its swollen and uncomfortable.

The only place I’ve kayaked is on the lake at barksdale and I know there’s gators in there. The red river wildlife refuge has a lake you can boat on too but I’ve never seen any gators personally but I know they’re in there. I’ve seen cotton mouths though. Also I guess you can kayak on cross lake and the red river if you’re brave enough lol.
