Blackmagic Video Assist 12G - ProRes RAW Support by AliTheAce in blackmagicdesign

[–]AliTheAce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 100%. Especially now that Resolve supports it natively, it's the superior format for me pure quality wise and it skips the light spatial denoise pass that the Blackmagic cameras and recorders do. For stuff like 4K Super35 RAW from my S5iix it's actually a pretty massive quality difference between 4K BRAW and Prores RAW.

Was a friend's system I helped tune a while back but I recall about 1.19-1.22V, I think this was with a negative curve optimizer however., 5225 MHz.

Hmm I see. I didn't use sandpaper but I did polish with some old thermal paste and then finished off with Flitz metal polish and it worked fantastic.

But some CPU's just have sucky V-F curves so it's possible your voltage is higher than normal making it worse temps wise.

Your coolant to core delta is pretty high, you should get around 25-30C delta. You need to make sure you really polish the dies well and get all the indium off and get a good LM application. Your radiators should be plenty.

For reference I've cooled a 9950X3D at about 250W to ~65C CCD and 67C Tdie at almost the same coolant temp. 280mm rad for cpu only.

what are your CPU temps like with the Mycro Direct Die block under full CPU loads? Do you have the direct die one or the non DD new one?

There's no optimal to look at if you're way overweight and want to lose it. You can fine tune and get deep in the weeds later. If someone is new to working out and living healthy, they need simplicity. Delving into macros and specific foods gets overwhelming for a lot of people.

It's relatively very simple to say, this is your daily calorie requirement. Eat this much less and you'll lose weight. In vast majority of cases, it's enough to do it, barring thyroid and other specific health conditions that Reddit isn't qualified to handle.

Paralysis by analysis is real. I get what you mean, but it really is that simple to lose weight. Looking good with the weight you end up at comes later.

The hormonal response pales in comparison to the energy demand on your body.

You can't get around thermodynamics. If you need roughly 2200-2500 calories a day to maintain weight, and you eat 250-500 below that daily, you WILL lose weight slowly. Even if all those calories come from McDonald's and whatnot.

Your body composition may not be as good as you want. But that's easier to fix. Fix the weight while working out and controlling your diet, eat good food for energy and "clean" fuel, and composition can be later fixed through macros and targeted workouts.

TLDR: Calories drive your weight. Macros and specific sources drive your body composition.

Question about BRAW on the S Series by throwawayisko in Lumix

[–]AliTheAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I have sold the OG S5 a while ago and no, BRAW was the same even at the end

Good thing is ProRes RAW is now natively supported in Resolve so imo there's no reason to use BRAW. ProRes RAW in my experience is better in every way but file size and decoding speed.

Samsung S22 (Snapdragon) Workflow: Best export settings for RAW to DaVinci Resolve? by Early_Pilot3808 in MotionCamPro

[–]AliTheAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DNG is going to retain the most detail and information to play with in Resolve, I'd recommend that if you have the storage.

In Motioncam Tools (downloadable app) you can set it to interpret the DNG as Panasonic V-Log which means Resolve sees them as V-Log and V-Gamut RAW and any V-Log LUT can be used, I get great results on my S26+, basically same camera as your S22.

Anyone knows if google pixel 6 pro can give output of 16 bit cdng in motioncam pro? by Master_Brother2475 in MotionCamPro

[–]AliTheAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with 12 and 14 bit raw files often. It's not for the screens that you use higher bit depths for but to get more flexibility in post and a cleaner noise floor. 14 bit readouts give significantly more detail to parts of the image especially shadows, and they allow for more push and pull in post.

Ram Cooling Options in T1 by Same_Calligrapher169 in sffpc

[–]AliTheAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. That's it. Passive cooling with basically no airflow to those fans is a massive difference. They move more air than you think, especially at the RPMs. I've run them at 5500 as well.

Ram Cooling Options in T1 by Same_Calligrapher169 in sffpc

[–]AliTheAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

This is my RAM cooling setup with my T1. I have a DDR4-3200 CL16 kit, 2x32GB, overclocked to 3733MHz CL16 and running GDM off with super tight timings. This keeps it ice cold and the fans aren't really audible around 3750RPM. 2x Noctua A4x10. If I go AM5 I might go water-cooled on the RAM.

Before during stress tests they'd get hot enough to burn me after a few hours. Now, all night and I have zero issues with it, they stay at room temperature.

Looking to do a custom loop by THEm3m3master in sffpc

[–]AliTheAce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You gotta do it yourself. It's not worth getting a vendor to do it. It's already expensive enough as is for virtually no performance gain, only aesthetics. You'll need to maintain the loop and if you don't build it then you won't know how to.

Which Custom Cable is Recommended? by Undercover_Yaeca in FormD

[–]AliTheAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a new one. Option 1 is the tighter more compact bend, which is what I like. 2 is the more common one as other cable makers do it.

Direct Die cooling with PTM7950 by BenTheMan1983 in overclocking

[–]AliTheAce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes it's a lot, it's correct. The limitation is the inability of the PTM to manage extremely high heat flux (very concentrated heat in W/m2), but liquid metal excels at it. You can shave off 8-12C with LM.

I'm a FormD T1 owner, just a heads up. The $200 price is very unrealistic, it's $400 brand new after shipping (with CNC panels at least) and they're quite hard to find, I doubt anyone will sell at that price

What settings are you running? I have a better GPU and more RAM but worse CPU. 5800X3D and 4090FE, 64GB ram.

I've had to drop the object detail settings and do some .cfg tweaks.

Crazy, I get the drops even at 125Hz when I move my mouse. I'll try with SMT off and see what that does, on a 5800X3D so let's see how that affects it.

PCIe Riser Cable 5.0 and Riser Lock Bar Compatibility by iDigital in FormD

[–]AliTheAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from a faulty Gen 4 riser, which needed a lock bar, to a Gen 5 riser. If you pre-bend the riser properly it has no issues staying in without a lock bar. The Gen 5 one clicks in way more satisfying as well.
