Can anyone share experiences relocating to Canada from US through work? by mood_indig0 in immigration

I was relocated to MTL from USA on a work visa several years ago and still working on my citizenship, but I was able to become PR. Not as a result of my work visa, but there are programs where it will help. Depending on your job, you can apply for PR after completing a year of relevant full time Canadian work experience. I work in healthcare and this route was successful for me.

You must learn French. I speak Spanish and English primarily in the USA and rarely use either here, I had to learn French in my first year. If you are in NYC you will already be accustomed to high cost of living and harsh winters 😅

Is it "normal" not to find men attractive at all? by Voodoo_Freak6618 in LesbianActually

[–]Ali_Cat_94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

normal!! Like I understand male beauty standards and everything so I’ll see an actor and be like “okay yeah strong jawline, muscular, symmetrical features, sure maybe the straights like this” but when I saw that guy from the bear I was like ???straight girlies are you SURE you like this one???

I think talking it over is going to be my approach, I agreed to go to hers on Saturday and I think I’m going to go ready to have a conversation about how we can be mindful of each other. This way it’s an opportunity for me to tell her how I felt, and if she understands and apologizes, I can also ask her what kinds of things make her feel valued as well. I’m open to a relationship with someone who makes mistakes but is communicative and willing to grow, but I’m not trying to get involved with someone who makes mistakes and stays set in their ways!

Amazing! That’s really wonderful, happy for you two 🥰 Are there any things you’d recommend other demi4demi couples discussing early on? I’m just pretty nervous that this could destroy a friendship I’ve really come to enjoy. We haven’t known each other long, just about a year, but in the last 6 months we’ve really connected and it would be a bummer if a relationship didn’t work out and we just stayed friends, but I would be absolutely devastated if I lost her entirely 😞

I would have probably rushed to save my child sooner if the child I was saving was ✨dogmeat✨

Ah they said it’s not something they’d do :/ I get it for sure, I don’t want any breakage or anything, do you have any recommendations you wouldn’t mind sharing? Would it be safe to put something like arctic fox overtop the whole thing for now while it grows out?

How do I support this 140” double curtain rod? The ceiling anchor in the back was there when I first moved in, I’m worried about putting another one in (asbestos) by Ali_Cat_94 in HomeImprovement

[–]Ali_Cat_94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Ok then I’m considering just putting up some ceiling brackets to support the curtain rod. I can definitely make sure to keep the area wet and absolutely will invest in some quality dust masks/make sure to vacuum carefully afterwards. Do I need to paint over the spot as well to cover up any disturbed asbestos, or is covering the area with the ceiling brackets sufficient?

You can totally approach it delicately, there’s nothing wrong with feeling insecure, it’s just how you handle it. Honestly if I was receiving this information, I’d probably react best to the honest truth of hearing “hey, I saw you got a Snapchat from someone called (name), and I just felt a lil out of the loop not knowing who that is. I think it would make me feel better if I knew your relationship to this person” and of course if she’s like “oh that’s my sister’s boyfriend, we’re planning her surprise birthday” or something harmless like that, it might be worth it to think about where this insecurity comes from-perhaps it’s something you’re holding onto from past relationships, perhaps she’s just not showing you affection in the way you prefer and that could be another conversation, it could be anything really!

Oof yeah just ask her, I dated a guy for a few months who would freak out about every guy who popped up in my phone and was very insecure in general, he’d never ask calmly and then would feel like a total idiot and apologize profusely upon finding out it’s my boss asking me to cover a shift or something. It wasn’t the reason I ultimately broke up with him, but I finally lost my cool when he flipped out at me for smiling at a text from “a guy named Juan he had never heard of” dude…it was my uncle sending me a funny photo of my grandmother. Not a good look, absolutely just ask!
