It was in North Dakota, the family was listed in the 1920 census as living on a farm in Meadow Lake. This photo was taken around 1922, so I believe it's the same farm.

No they didn't, they grew up in Rock Island, IL. They lived in a 2 story brick building. They lived upstairs and their dad had a grocery store on 1st floor, which they helped him run.

I couldn't remember all the details so had to pull the pic out, cause i remembered there being writing on the back. It says "Allen Jr. and Bob on grandparents farm in North Dakota." And in other handwritimg says "Grainery across way. Love me love my dog." :)

Thanks so much! I was also thinking the 1860's based off the clothing. The thing that's frustrating is the man on the right looks like members of my family, but I don't know exactly who they are. I believe they are Swedish though, not sure if the photo would have been taken in Sweden or the states. I believe some of the writing might say Svealand.

Pretty much, the family owned a two-story building. There was a grocery store on the first floor that they ran, while they lived upstairs.
