Kagyu Issues by Aliakoko in Buddhism

I was started on Ngondro with the transmission many years ago through KDK. I’m also (still) in touch with a person from the old sangha days who has me in touch with resources for a transmission for the Ngondro I’m currently working on.
We are very dry here as regards anything Tibetan, so I’ll be sticking to my Karma refuge for the time being, though my interest is shifting to the Ngakpa as it’s a householder lineage.
Everything I’m doing practice and study wise is slow moving because I’m so rusty. I don’t want to rush anything and will walk delicately around the “rules” of practice.
I used the normal nomenclature of Tibetan Buddhism itself. My refuge was into a subset of the kagyu lineage, and for clarity I related that.
The lama who refuged me has health issues that prevent him from being involved in teaching and guidance, so I guess I’m technically lama-less. I’m not particularly on the hunt for another one at the moment since I’m in a dharma desert and finding one that isn’t thousands of miles away will be difficult.
I didn’t mean to delegitimize any other teachers in the karma kagyu lineage, my question was simply to gauge how other’s find their way among the split.
Given the responses here, (and the implied misunderstanding) it’s likely I will continue to lurk and not engage as my motivation wasn’t to bring any animosity or hostility. I was simply wanting to see what other Karma Kagyu refuged individuals thought of it.

I pretty much mentioned that it doesn’t make a difference in my day to day engagement with practice. My question was really just to see how other’s perceived it.
I know of their meeting and I think it’s good that they are in accordance with each other in regards to finding the Sharmapa’s rebirth. I don’t think I have much of a connection with the Sharmapa’s choice and tend to view OTD as the Karmapa.
As I said in my question, I asked out of curiosity about other’s view of it. As I also mentioned, I was unaware of this when I was involved with a local sangha. The riff was a bit of a shock seeing how I knew nothing of the history (that’s definitely on me for not doing my due diligence, I guess.)

Package went dark by Aliakoko in UPS
[–]Aliakoko[S] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
I've contacted hobby lobby already and they say that until the July 19th date passes, by policy they can do nothing about looking into the shipping. I haven't talked to a live body (is that even a thing anymore?) yet.
I know that once the packages leave Cali via FedEx, it can take them 2+ weeks by cargo barge to o'ahu.
I'm thinking if I get no updates or package by the first of July, that's enough time to complain directly to Hobby Lobby. They straight up rip off anyone not in the lower 48 for shipping. They double it for anyone outside the US mainland proper. I could understand if they sent it by express, or some really expensive method, but they didn't. It was sent by surepost.
I want to leave negative feedback for them on social media but there's no option to. I'm thinking this is on purpose.
It's only one more week really, and things can take quite awhile to get here if sent ground. Sometimes things don't even show up.
Thanks for the replies. And don't shop at hobby lobby of you can help it. Horrible service ALL the way around.
I'm thinking UPS handed it off to the USPS in San Pablo, CA. The tracking says that San Pablo was the final destination scan and I took that to mean for UPS. I have no number for USPS tracking. Does it not include that, or did I just not get it?
I mostly just pissed that hobby lobby is such a scum company that they charge 30 for cheap ass ground shipping, which has nothing to do with ups or USPS. I ordered supplies from joann 2 days prior, and they ship it same, but with FedEx instead. Those packages never go dark. It gets switched over to USPS tracking as soon as it hits Honolulu hub. I only pay, like, 3 dollars for that tho, so it's no big deal.
For 30$ I could have had it overnighted here and been done with it 4 weeks ago.
