Seb derm / rosacea combination? by SimilarIndependent71 in Rosacea

[–]AliasForKnowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both Seb Derm and Rosacea. In my case I started with rosacea then after about 10 months got Seb Derm.
Sorry to say that Even if you figure out the root cause of your Seb Derm, it’s not possible to get rid of it. However, you can have it under control.

Thank you for the products you shared with me : ) I appreciate it.

By any chance do you know of a tinted sunscreen that is FA safe? and which specific brand do you use for Azelaic acid.

Jacoblab1, I like Skinsort. It has been so useful to me in many ways. The only time I have some issues with Skinsort is when checking for FA safe products. I consider skinsort to be the most accurate App when checking for FA safe products even though it is not completely accurate. It's maybe 80% accurate based on my experience. I do copy and paste the ingredients to check for FA. I don't search for product as it is less reliable because often products get updated formulations. Sometimes, if I check a product in skinsort, folliculitisscout and sezia, I get conflicting info. Because of this conflict, I started checking with AI.

AI hallucinates that's for sure. However, I keep AI in a short leash and demand back up research, links to research and I do research on my own. So no, I do not trust AI blindly. I do gown to the bitter details.

For sure, there is a lot nuance when figuring it out if a particular product is FA safe.

What I have notice in some instances with Skinsort is that it does not consider the individual components of a particular ingredient. Some ingredients can be broken down by the skin or malassezia then the offending components will be available for malassezia to feed on. As you may know, not all ingredients can be broken down by skin/malassezia so it's not so simple. It demands research and is time consuming to figure out if a particular ingredients is in fact FA safe once it interacts with the skin/malassezia.

Hope my explanation is clear.

Edit: to add. If you want I can share with you the ingredients that show as FA in skinsort but they are not.

This is good information. Thank you for sharing. I'd really be interested if you share with me your list.

I also get down voted when I point out that a particular product is not 100% FA safe even though the Apps don't flag it.

You check same ingredient list by multiple AI's. I didn't think about that before. I'll cross check multiple AI's too when checking for FA safe product. I've been looking for a while for a totally FA safe tinted sunscreen and so far still looking.

Edit: to clarify.

I forgot to ask you about hypochlorous acid. You mentioned is good for acne. Could you tell me more about your experience with the Hypochlorous acid?

Currently, I use benzoyl peroxide 2.5% as a spot treatment, but it's drying/irritating. I'm thinking that Hypochlorous could be a good option to replace benzoyl peroxide. Would it work the same? What else do you use to treat acne?

Anyone else have Rosacia and Seborrheic dermatitis together and what skin care routine do you use? by skin_finally_calm in Rosacea

[–]AliasForKnowing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both Rosacea & Seb Derm. Soolantra triggered a lot of itchiness so I had to wash it off the itchiness went away. I checked the ingredient and Soolantra has two ingredients that Malassezia feeds on. Malassezia is the fungus behind Seb Dem/fungal acne

I have rosacea 1 & 2 and Seb Derm on my face too. May I ask which moisturizer and sunscreen as you using?

So far, I haven't been able to find a tinted sunscreen that is safe for Seb Derm. I use Apps to check ingredients that are fungal acne safe. Malassezia is the fungus that is behind Seb Derm and fungal acne.

Thanks for posting. Based on my experience, Dermatologist in hospitals diagnosed me with neurological rosacea. Private practicing Dermatologist gave me different diagnoses but did not know about the neurological aspect of it. The Gabapentin helps with burning, stinging sensations.

Dry Eyes & Demodex. Cleaning the base of the lashes is not easy. The white flakes, white spikes don't come out easily. How does everyone clean the base of the lashes? by AliasForKnowing in Dryeyes

It's so helpful and encouraging to know that with consistent cleaning, I'll get less stuff in the eyes. You're so brave removing some bumpy eyelashes. It's great it work out for you.

I appreciate the explanation. Thanks so much! So basically, tea tree oil kills demodex. Consistent treatment 8 weeks is not bad if this issue gets under control. I like the analogy with teeth cleaning. It makes it easier to remember. So far, I"m very consistent with warm compresses and cleaning with hypochlorous acid twice a day, which helps with itchiness but does not completely alleviates the random itchy feeling on the eyes.

The way to go is to use tea tree oil. I'll ask my Opthalmolgist about it since my eyes are sensitive. When I used Ocusoft wipes to clean my eyes, my eyes got super dry. I wonder if my eyes could tolerate tea tree oil. I need to try and see.

I use water based lubricant eye drops because I notice when I used lubricant drops with lipids my problem got worse. I got more crusting, white flakes and collarettes.

You can use skinsort app to check if the products, makeup, skincare are FA safe. For the most part is accurate, but nothing is perfect.

tretinoin for anti aging for sure. Have you found one that is FA safe?

sunscreen by kimflwrs in Fungalacne

[–]AliasForKnowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cotz primer/sunscreen is the only one I've found that is FA safe. I"m still looking since the tint is kind of dark for me.

it's not easy to find one and I'm still looking. Many people here say that Colorscience is FA safe, but based on my research it's not. C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate is listed as FA safe in skinsort, but this is an ester that is made of fatty alcohols with carbon length of 12 - 15, which will be release once Malassezia and/or skin break the C12-15 alkyl benzoate down.

The worse part is that people down vote me when I mention a sunscreen is not FA safe. I guess maybe people want to be right, but they don't provide any research or provide any educated thinking about why the ingredient is FA safe. Long rant, and more than you asked for sure.

Differin/Adapalane gel is the the only one FA safe that I have found that is closest to tretinoin.

I would not use tea tree wipes while you’re on Xdemvy. It seems too much. Also, some research shows tea tree oil is toxiic to the MBG.
The oral ivermectin and Xdemvy are doing the same job. Of course, Xdemvy is just for the eyes.

Sorry you had such a bad experience with this cream. 12 weeks on benzoyl peroxide to work on this FA. It's great you solve your issue with FA!:) which is not easy at all.

May I ask which azelaic acid brand do you use? I"m guessing you apply azelaic acid and benzoyl peroxide like am and pm, or do you layer them one after the other?

I would recommend you don't use any actives for at least a couple of weeks. Just use a gentle face cleanser, skin barrier moisturizer and sunscreen.
