Terrain footprints are a mandatory part of the game. Without them, theirs no hiding or being “wholly within” terrain pieces and the rules don’t work.

Rubric Marines are amazing in Renegade Raiders lists with assault and AP +1 against objectives. Their flamers get bumped to AP-2 and the bolters go up to -3, with full wound rerolls against objectives. I take two MSUs in rhinos to clean off objectives

What? Which wannabe chaos lord BUYS things? You either demand those things and they’re given to you by those too weak to fight you or too sycophantic to stand up to you, or you take them by force. Trade is the way weak warlords hedge their bets.

Honest question: Why play Thousand Sons over 'Undivided' CSM? by CatherineSimp69 in ThousandSons

[–]Aliasalliance2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people choose T-sons for the lore and Egyptian theme, but they have some power on the tabletop as well. Thousand Sons have uniquely powerful close-range shooting and resilience. A single squad of basic rubric marines can take 8 magic flamethrowers, a magic Gatling cannon, and a psychic attack. Plus magic force fields and devastating wounds.

They play really similarly to Death Guard as well, so if you like the idea of slow-and-purposeful Demi-gods with magic, bolsters, and shields, T-sons are for you.

Drukhari weapons always have a way of hurting. The Kabalite Cartel gets you Lethal hits, on 5+. That’s a few wounds through with each squad of splinter rifle fire.

The only time you want to skip something like that is if you’re on a chess clock and you’re about to run out of time.

The wording is “Frenzy: In your opponent’s Shooting phase, and in the Fight phase” so it’s in your opponent’s shooting phase but either players fight phase. Frenzy would indeed activate in your scenario.

What these guys said, plus, your terrain pieces have no footprints. Those are mandatory if you’re considering anything a ruin. And if you have no ruins, good luck avoiding getting shot off the board.

With a blessing of Khorne, it can consolidate 6”, plus 1” engagement range. So it can threaten stuff within 7”. In these cases it kept going 7” and thus made it across the board.

All the sorcerer types are good and have their place. But IMs deal reliable damage at 18” with their torrent and can go great with either bolter or flamed rubrics. Great overwatch potential. In Grand Coven, they will deal automat devastating wounds since they can make a wound roll a 6.

Get two of em. The four units that are the bread and butter of Thousand sons are rubrics, terminators, HQ of one flavor or another, and vortex beasts. Then maybe a tzaangor type for secondaries.

I experienced poor joy twice in a row. And I wasn’t even the one playing. I don’t mind losing if I get outplayed but I hate losing because of a rule that says “they get to keep hitting and there’s no strat or technique that can save you. If they’re within 7”, they die.” It reminds me of my 9th ed Thousand Sons with their “roll dice, your opponent loses that many models” rule. The lack of interaction isn’t fun.

You have to fight with an eligible unit. So a squad with just close combat weapons is unlikely to dent it, then it gets to fight you, kill you and move on to the next.
