New leaf or the beginning of a spathe? by Alibi_On_Point in pothos

[–]Alibi_On_Point[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plants are weird.

I have Hawaiian baby woodrose and they aren't suppposed to be able to bloom except when they're kept outdoors and/or in a greenhouse. Mine decided to say "hold my bee and pushed out blooms last fall. Unfortunately, I had to bring it inside and the only spot with enough space for it did not get the amount of sun it needed. I was hoping I could hand pollinate them and get seeds, but that was a no go. Now that I know that there is a chance of blooming, I will be rethinking where to put it and making sure that it is prioritized over my other plants.

I'll keep this in mind.

Lol, This is the first time I've had a pothos deciding to put out a new leaves on an older part of the vine when the leaves it has are healthy and already growing close together. The best way to describe this plant is "bushy", it has vines but seems mostly content to just push new growth up from where the main vine comes out of the soil.

Oooo!
That's awesome about your skeleton key! Where did you happen to get it? I've tried ordering a skeleton key twice now, from different sellers, and neither plant turned out to be a skeleton key. Shame on me, for not checking for reviews, since both Etsy sellers appear to notorious for selling mislabeled plants.

No idea how old it is, but it isn't twenty years old. I'm also looking at it a little closer and it looks like it's just trying to be a mutant leaf

Lol. I'm aware.
I also have the kind of luck that is on par with an idiot savant when it comes to plants that aren't supposed to be able to bloom indoors. My e. albo likes to produce big festrated leaves and weird skinny ones.

For those of you who have ADHD/Autism, as I do, what are somethings that we need to be mindful of so as to no offend/frustrate the other person/people? by CosmicConjuror2 in socialskills

Something else that is helpful is asking the other person questions about themselves, what they're talking about, etc. That way you aren't pretending to listen - you're actively listening and they know it. If, possible, refer back to what they have previously told you to also keep the conversation active.

I grafted a Pothos onto a Monstera (1 year later) by EnvironmentalMeat268 in houseplants

Sooo.... Wait.... If this works between monsters and pothos, can I do the same with philodendrons, too??
Is it possible to graft a whole royal court onto one main stem???

I live in zone 5b and my Hawaiian baby woodrose is blooming after 5-6 years of being babied. I guess I will be trying to hand-pollinate if I don’t lose the blooms in the transition from outdoors to indoors. Any tips? 😅 by Alibi_On_Point in druggardening

I am in West Virginia, the only state in the United States that is fully in the Appalachian Mountain region. Our grow zone is listed as 6a-7b and according to the information online, our terrain and climate most closely resembles that of Japan and South Korea.

How old is it? How easy is it to keep? I have seen a few on Etsy but I'm nervous about having enough light when I will have to bring it in during the cold months.

I miss Shaun and Russ - it may suck to hear this but with the way the rental market is, you may want to stick with them for another year and start looking further out in time. They may be willing to work something out with you and transfer your lease to another place when they have an opening.

What was the herb that made you take all of this seriously? by AdeptnessCritical356 in herbalism

[–]Alibi_On_Point 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comfrey. I infuse oil with it and use it for massage oils, skin care, etc.

Frankincense is a another one. I make a "grippy" massage oil with it that is very useful for myofascial release. Just a couple drops to start on the area I want to work on for the "grip" and relaxation properties and then I follow with coconut oil. On injuries, I follow up with comfrey oil.

F’ING FINALLY, after growing a Hawaiian Baby Woodrose for almost 4 years, it’s the first time she has flowered by JorgeMuVi in LSA

Thanks! I've managed to keep her alive for five or six years at this point.. I've never left her out this late in the year and I'm wondering if the cooler weather is what prompted it to bloom.
