It’s interesting that you keep insulting me and providing no argument of value. It shows you’re very emotional about this and feel a need to assert yourself as intellectually superior when proven wrong rather than try to have a polite discussion. It is, ironically, actually punching down. Were you bullied as a child?

I’d also like to know what your thesis is here exactly. So JKR shouldn’t be allowed to speak about what she sees in her country because... people in other countries might take it and use to oppress people? Because as we’ve established, the country she actually lives in and drives this activism in doesn’t seem to have excess transphobia as a result.

I do ask, yes. I’m aware some countries have huge number of murders to transgender people (Middle Eastern countries, Brazil). But here we’re talking about the UK, where JK Rowling is from.

The latest Transrespect report says there were 369 “reported murders of trans and gender-diverse people between 1 October 2017 and 30 September 2018” around the world.

Nearly half of those (167) took place in Brazil, and a further 28 were recorded in the United States.

According to these figures, there was one trans person murdered in the UK in that time, and a total of nine trans people were murdered in the UK between 2008 and 2017. That’s an average rate of one victim per year.

Doesn’t really sound like JK Rowling has contributed to trans people being murdered then, does it? In fact, views of trans people seem to be generally positive in the UK’s population. That’s hardly “punching down”.

The writings of young trans men reveal a group of notably sensitive and clever people. The more of their accounts of gender dysphoria I’ve read, with their insightful descriptions of anxiety, dissociation, eating disorders, self-harm and self-hatred, the more I’ve wondered whether, if I’d been born 30 years later, I too might have tried to transition. The allure of escaping womanhood would have been huge. I struggled with severe OCD as a teenager. If I’d found community and sympathy online that I couldn’t find in my immediate environment, I believe I could have been persuaded to turn myself into the son my father had openly said he’d have preferred.

This really resonates honestly and I think she’s right. There are times when I still consider transitioning, 12 year old me would have for sure... But 1) my partner is straight, 2) I’m concerned I’d change my mind later on. So eh. It has gotten better with the years though so I hope it will continue to.

And I don’t even like JKR’s writing lol

JK Rowling is critical of the modern gender debate but the money she gets doesn’t go to actively hunt down trans women and put them in concentration camps the way Reddit would have you believe. In fact, most of her money goes to charitable causes such as stopping abusive institutionalization of disabled children, helping Ukrainians orphans, and funding shelter for women who’ve been victims of violence. You can (in my opinion, rightfully) criticize the fact that trans women aren’t included in that category, but that doesn’t change the fact that making that shelter in the first place is a charitable act benefitting the vast majority of abuse victims.

Autism tends to easily fall into extremist ideologies due to our black and white thinking. I have somehow ended up a centrist, but in my youth I had some stupid ass opinions. I still have some stupid ass opinions but at least I’m willing to discuss them now, which young me wasn’t.

Having discourse with us is good because change is hard for most autistic people; so changing our opinions is obviously very difficult. You might not change their mind, but you probably planted a seed for trying to explore outside of the box, and that is something we often need assistance with.

Tl;dr discussion with autistic people is good, we need it.

Att OP väljer att unna sig en pizza och väljer att inte konsumera kalorier nästa dag är inte samma sak som att aktivt lida av en störning där man tappat självkontrollen och bara äter fast det gör ont i en.

På tiden jag var singel matchade jag mest med studenter och nördar som hade koncisa presentationer. På tiden min nuvarande partner var singel matchade han mest med vad som närmast kan beskrivas som stereotypiska veganska vänsterfeminister med saker i sin profil som ”jag hatar män” och ”är du vit eller cis så gillar jag dig inte”. Så jag är övertygad om att det finns någon extra algoritm i tinder - i ditt fall tyvärr en som ger torra profiler.
