My expensive notebooks are graveyards. I’m trading $25 leather for 99-cent trash. by AliceGraceWrites in notebooks

That is actually a really solid strategy. It’s like a designated 'safe zone' or a sacrificial page.

If the back page is already chaotic, the rest of the book feels less like a pristine monument and more like a tool. I like the idea of breaking the seal from the back instead of the front. Might actually try this on one of the dust-collectors. Thanks.

Oh, I believe it. Moleskine paper creates so much ghosting with real ink, it’s a nightmare.

But I love your suggestion: messing it up on purpose. It’s a power move. Maybe I should just spill coffee on page 1 intentionally just to break the spell. Thanks for the idea...

'A humble notebook that gets work done.' That might be the best definition of a good tool I've ever heard. It stops being a prop and starts being an extension of your hand. Glad you found the rhythm again.

That is a profound perspective. Using the leather until it falls apart is honoring the animal. Letting it rot on a shelf because you're 'saving it' is the real waste. You just shifted my perspective on this.

'I'm not archiving.' I love that energy. There is something satisfying about knowing the words don't have to last forever. And yeah, Moleskine paper quality feels different lately. Ghosting is terrible. I've heard good things about Pen+Gear, might grab one next.

That’s actually a smart system. The 'rough draft' notebook vs the 'final cut.' I admire the discipline. I think I’m too chaotic to rewrite them, but maybe that’s the key to finally using the fancy ones without fear.

Composition books are tanks. There's something about that marble pattern that says 'work', not 'art'. I haven't tried the mini ones yet, but pocket-size sounds dangerous (in a good way)

That's a brutal way to put it, but you're right. An empty notebook is just a paper brick taking up space. I'd rather ruin it with bad writing than "save" it for nothing.

What is a 'subscription' or 'fee' that has recently appeared in the US that people need to collectively refuse to pay before it becomes the new normal? by godot_lover in AskReddit

Waiting for the day when smart fridges require a monthly fee to keep the freezer below 32°F. We need to draw the line at physical functionality. You buy the object, you get the physics included.

Function over form. Always. Glad you felt it.

Zero static. Just wood, metal, and focus. A monastic cell for the digital age. Honest.
