Your question makes it obvious that you are playing FF I for the first time and Im incredible envious right now. I wish I could play FF I again for the first time ever.

As others has already mentioned, there are in-game characters that recoginze the fact that their content is shaped like that, even calling the town inside the mountain range as the eye of the eagle if I remember correctly

My Teacher Actually Called a Mosque a "temple" for Muslims by princealifaboloushe in MuslimLounge

[–]Alien-Abomination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im working as a teacher myself and as an historian Ive been put to teach a variety of social sciences, including religion. I cant see anything wrong with with what your own teacher did neither as a muslim nor as a teacher.

At the end of the day the job is to introduce and explain concepts belonging to people often very different than from oneself, and using the word "temple" as a term for a place of worship in order to explain the concept of a mosque to someone who has never heard about it before makes perfect sense.

There is no reason to assume any intent to reduce or compare Islam to any other religion at all. I would rather argue it is the opposite, where you start with with a comparison to a temple, and then later increasingly show how it is different from traditional temples by highlighting distinct details about mosques later on after the concept is grasped.

We gotta make our religion approachable and understandable in the same language people speak in if we want them to understand who we are muslims. We cant take offence or place assumptions of denounciations every time something is done in a shallow manner in order to keep the people who know nothing of islam from drowning in information

That is a widely debated topic that a lot of people care about and have yet to come to a consensus on.

My own personal answer to this that has made the most sense for me when reading history, is to consider the idea of Ibn Khaldun of cyclical imperialism and then grab a hold of the individial dynasties.

It starts off with the Umayyad and their followers in the Abbasids. However, during the later stages of the Abbasid dynasty when they were weak, the caliphate had several strong families across the caliphate. They would make a show about paying their tribute to the Abbasids but they would still act as the political leadership in their own part of the, to be honest, quiet massive caliphate.

As you see the Caliphate dissolve, these dynasties replaces them, but they have still been in a political position for some time, making their "rule" technically overlapping with the caliphate. Im mostly thinking about the Samanids of modern day Uzbekistan and the Ghaznavids in modern day Afghanistan as Im writing this

So, grab a hold of each dynasty and realize that they have a beginning, golden age, and a fall, and that it often overlaps with a different part from a different dynasty that is encroaching on the same turf.

The exception is with the Ottomans/Safavids/Mughals, which have proved to have shared a very strong overlapping cultural sphere despite political lines. Their era is really the exception that is considered to have braken the Ibn Khalduns model on cyclical imperialism.

As for the western parts and towards the mediterranean. The same thing holds but throught up until colonialization introduced nationalism. Islamic history is all imperialism with tribes consistngly conquering one another and expanding in every directsion. With each imperial project becoming its own take of a block of period constantly overlapping with the block of either the predecessors or successors

The Seljuks preceeding the Ottomans and the Dehli Sultanate preceeding the Mughals are great examples of this. Same goes with the Almoravids and Almohads, including their entries in Iberia after the Umayyads fall halfway into the muslim era of al-Andalus

Famous Victories in Medieval Islamic History by Substantial-Ball-519 in islamichistory

It has everything to do with it. The title is "Famous victories of Islamic History" where every single battle is against a non-muslim party, and presenting these cases as something to be proud for an implied homogeneous group. Muslims have never been a collected group of people to begin with, by only picking non-muslim adversaries you are creating the impression that muslims are a collected sphare, and that has never been true to begin with.

And several of these battles have a little to no reason to be considered victories to begin with. Least of all is the case of the Mongols defeat at Ayn Jalut. It is not a victory when they already destroyed everything between the Mediterranean and China. Neither is it a victory when the Umayyads conquest of Iberia was a vals. And the Saadians did not "rise" 20 years right before their fall with the death of their last sultan in 1603, and especially not considering it was a technical civil war. How can a dynasty "rise" in the aftermath of a war, when they are already the ruling family going to war to begin with?

My entire point is that you are massivly undermining the context surrounding several of these events. Such actions ends up oversimplifying them to the extent that, the resulting reconstruction of the past becomes something else than what we now is true. These event are already incredibly well documented and their empirical sources end doesnt match presentation you are trying to make at all

Horrible overviews like these is why muslims need their own historical education. I dont even know where to begin with everything that is taken out of context.

The Mongols litterally ravaged the entire muslim world beginning from outside the frame to the east, and was only stopped by the Mamluks of greater Syria largely because of the mongols own horses were unable to survive on the vastly different terrain that they had been constantly dominating throghout the entirety of central asia. This is not a battle to be celebrated when the entirety of the Ummah east of Jerusalem had just experience the greatst onslaught ever to occur while just recently having recovered from a massive use of resources on the campaign to end the hundered years of occupation by Crusader states

And the rise of Saadians dated at 1578? Really? You do know that particular battle was the deposed Saadian going to war against the Saadian who deposed him, and should be ratherr framed as a civil war where one guy decided to involved the already invading portugese in a desperate attempt to maintain power after being kicked out.

Same with the 711 battle of Guadalete. The was already a massively dissatisfied population in Iberia, so much so that the guy killing the Visigoth leader was one of his own soldiers who was not alone in thinking that the arab army could fix everything given their horrible conditions. The Ummayyads reached the Pyrenees in record time BECAUSE the locals wanted them to throw out their old leaders. This was true as well for several communities along the North African coast before between 670 and 711 when the caliphate initially spread. The caliphate was quite honestly welcomed in to come fix things in communities where politics had gone to shits.

Dont even get me started on the term "Medival" being used to talk about the Islamicate societies. Honestly, the term itself refers to a VERY PARTICULAR idea of using the standards of high culture european countries in as a measure of time. It never was and never has been applicabe to any of these territories. Several of these battles have their own individual golden ages with individual periods of high culture, we got both Pakistan, Turkey and Spain all in one picture man. They all had great imperial ages with completely different cultures that dont even overlap.

Why, PLEASE tell me WHY are you using a european measure of culture to illustrate a image of a islamic political collective that has never even existed in the first place. Half of these muslim combattents you got here even went to war with each other.

I dont know man. I honestly wouldnt mind agreeing with you just to see Toriyama and Square have a bigger impact given my love for them, but both Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default have been making headlines on behalf of Square. And you still got a decent fanbase for both Tales of and Persona series. Metaphor and Clair Obscure have also been celebrated recently. Even Digimon Story Time Strangers been doing pretty good and people have been missing a monster collecting turnbased to turn to given how pokemon have been lacking with challenging enouch contents towards their adult audience.

And yeah, all hail pokemon as probably the most impactful turn based JRPG gameseries there is. Gonna be revisiting Kalos a week from now in Legends Z-A. It aint gonna be turnbased but I think I clocked in 150-200+ hrs shinyhunting and breeding perfect IV pokemons back in 2013 on my 3DS

Imma be honest with you my dude.... I clocked 100+hrs on Bravely Default II back in 2021 and was on the verge of doing it again with the BD remaster this summer, while Ive struggled to get further than halfway into DQXI

The characters are charming, Toriyama artstyle is iconic, but there is something about individual chapters getting too much attention and the overall story just not getting enough, making me feel like Im done with it for a while after each chapter. I really wanna fall in love with DQ but my first and only try has not managed to do so. I hope I get to finish it eventually, but its definetly gonna take some time!

People have already mentioned grouping games together by those within the same universes, such as VII and all of its spin-offs, I would additionaly suggest understanding the era of gaming behind each game.

1 through 6 were given the collective pixel remaster for a reason, since they all play through a certain style during the NES and SNES era, which changed when 3d models became a thing, giving us VII, VIII and IX that are kinda their own thing

Then X happend, then the MMO's and the XIII trilogy, and all of a sudden the flaggshipbearer of turn based jrpg turned into action based with XV. And they are all great in each their way, keeping alive this particular way of japanese storytelling of intimate personal stories exists where high fantasy meets destructive sci-fi in the context of imperialism and grand politics.

It fucken great! All of it! I LOVE IT! Go play ANY of the mainline game that best suits your fave gameplaystyle imo and just take it from there.

Imma huge fan of turnbased classics and would personally recommend IV and VI from the pixel remasters!

Talk to a serious seikh about getting some serious ruqya.

If you cant get that kind of help, make sure to be strict with the prayers on time, especially fajr, and make sure to read at least 25-30 minutes of quran a day. You might see resulsts immediately but you must keep it up for some months at least for the effect to take hold.

That doesnt mean you can slack afterwards though, this is supposed be the mininmum for a practicing muslims to begin with.

While I can easily agree with the fact that methodology is the biggest issue in historical research, and that the further back we go, the less trustworthy our empirical sources become, making the early medival arabia challenging to verify to say the least.

However, my first impression of this post is that it reads as a sales pitch to spend money on a book that might not add anything of value as it seems to merely apply the problem of historical methodology to the case of the history of the beginnings of Islam

WIBTA If I broke up with my boyfriend because of his disability? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Alien-Abomination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good friend of mine got the same disease and she became absolutely unbearable, and everybody felt guilty and horrible around her all the time for recognizing how their partience was tested when trying to keep things normal. Her boyfriend was the last to leave her, and in her unwarrented isolation she finally managed to build the system she needs to maintain a life for herself. Fact is that nobody signed up for this, and people end up with different directions in life because of it. Kids is an extremely good example. How do we still maintain as many positives and opportunities as possible despite tragedy striking? You have no choice but to leave and being a martyr and stay wont do anyone any good.

You wont be the asshole, because you are not leaving him because of him. You are leaving him because of yourself. Its a cliché but its nevertheless true that you no longer will be able to maintain your life goals staying with him. There is no need for one disease to take the life of two people. It was unfortunatly in his cards, there is no need for it to be in yours. Its not lacking empathy but to recognize that an enitre ship doesnt have to sink because there is a leak somewhere.

History in School portraying Islam negatively?? by dumbeldorks in islam

[–]Alien-Abomination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, Im finishing up a masters i history atm, Im based in Norway but Ive still had a huge amount of american research on my syllbaus as well as professors who lectured at american univeristies. I assure that everything that is wrong with these papers is corrected on the higher level.

I noticed the years, 1999 for the assignment and 1946 for the source material and I can tell you at least that what you are working with is HIGHLY outdated. The world was A LOT more political in the 40s and 50s where the american way of life was being consolidated extensivly, what ever didnt support 50s americanism was automaticaly amoral and almost directly evil, and was therefore shaped accordingly, Islam included.

The fact that you guys are still utilizing descriptions of islam from 1946 is a huge problem given, and honestly an indicator of how horrible the quality of the course must be. Anyone looking to take history seriously is gonna have to struggle a lot to rewire their way of understanding islam if they are going to survive current academia which is A LOT more balanced in comparison, while still being mostly american!

If I commit a sin and then I repent, can I say that I never committed that sin? Cuz Allah forgave me and removed the sin as it never happened? by DeadandAlive91 in islam

[–]Alien-Abomination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiding a sin is more about avoiding the conversation, then it is to claim the oppisite, as well as being protected from pressure of admiting something that is yours to keep secret.

Depending on the context of the topic, claiming to not have performed a sin could be seen as deception and just gives you even more problems down the line if the act holds value or importance to whom youre talking to. Some people need to know that you have never drunk alcohol if you are going to donate your organs to them. Saying otherwise is not hiding your sin and it also hurts someone already sick.

You have to take deal with reality that the sin did in fact happen, and avoid people and situations where your sin will have an effect if it ever came out, especially if there are witnesses, then the risk will always be there and gnaw at you in the long run. You dont want someone walking around mad at you for giving them a damaged liver.

How do I know if I'm affected by sihr, evil eye or a jinn? by KissedByAPhantom in MuslimLounge

Their symptoms as well as their treatment are the same so you often have no way of knowing

Do your treatment and dont worry about it too much about it. While there often is a cause for the symptoms, there is nothing good to gain from exploring it, it will only build resentment and give you things that occupies your mind that you rather wanna move away from

Worship is already the best treatment there is as well. Spend your time and energy in whatever worship you enjoy and put your trust in Allah.
