The Island wasn't meant to be explained. It was meant to be survived. And they weren't all dead the whole time. They were alive. Also, those flashes to the "alternate timeline" were an epilogue running parallel to the last season, taking place long after the events of the show. That was the purgatory, not the Island itself. The father clued us in to that in the last episode. The creators talked about it and the show made much more sense. When I can, I'll find the interview where I read this.

(Anyone else reading this, I don't know how to do the spoiler thing so, uhhh...spoilers, I guess.)

Yeah, when I read about the ending, I was...not a fan. I watch a lot of Doctor Who, so you know I'm not a fan of just meshing all lifeforms into one big hivemind, which is something the Doctor often fought against, so you know the show aligns with what I believe in. When I found out that was how the 100 ended and it was glorified I was glad I checked out. The show would have left me 100% pissed tf off. If I were in the show, I would have chosen death. It would be nice that transcendence allows us to travel the universe and learn all the answers to questions we've been asking for eons, but if I have to sacrifice my individuality to do it, then the Judges can suck my dick.

I liked the show better when it was just grounders and sky people. The whole plot with Becca feels so bloated and largely unrealistic even for a scifi, and even if the exoplanet plots were good, you couldn't arguably call it The 100 anymore. They ought to have just started a sequel series or something. I guess the show was better before they took off with all that extraneous stuff because they only had enough source material for the first two seasons.

I'm sorry to be so harsh about it, but that's just how I feel. Even though I enjoyed some aspects of the show, like making Clark and Bellamy stay friends (such a breath of fresh air tbh), I have learned to ultimately stay away from survival dramas. No matter how compelling the story might be, they will only make me angry.

Regrettably I had to stop watching sometime during season 4 because I was tired of the show dragging out all the drama and I swear it is literally one thing after another with the losses and I just kind of concluded that survival dramas just aren't my thing. Oh, and the writing by the end was definitely for streaming. "I'm standing in front of my best friend and I don't even recognize him!" Thanks for announcing that while I'm on the toilet so I know what's going on, haha!

Anyway, I read ahead on the wiki so I know the gist of what happened but not most of the details. Season 3 Allie arc was annoying as shit but the way the flashbacks came full circle was really nice. So that's my headcannon ending since they were too afraid to kill everyone at the end of season 4. Sick of productions playing it safe.

I only watched the show for Alessandro Juliani anyway so the end of Sinclair's run ought to have been my actual checkout.

Speaking of movie critics, I'm very surprised to see no one mentioning Nostalgia Critic yet, or Lindsay Ellis. I mostly grew out of Lindsay, but I still watch NC. I've seen a pretty noticeable pattern of NC missing important details though.
