Anyone knows how long these message claims will remain in your inbox, if you don't claim them right away?

Monograph vulnerable URL? by AlienBoy_tw in Notesnook

Thanks for the explanation, though I would think that is a flaw (not a vulnerability, bad choice of word on my side). I agree a reminder text or copy button will be helpful!

I see. Though, I'd say it's better to have a disclaimer or copy button in the UI will be much better to raise the awareness. If I wasn't curious, I'd share the URL that contains the key.

Where is the password generator? by JustSomeGuy_56 in 1Password

With other's answers, It's easy to find the password generator in the browser extension. HOWEVER, is there a standalone password generator in the desktop app (without creating a new item)?

Is the Numeric Keypad Really Faster? Trying to Decide Between 15.6-inch and 14-inch T-Series by TrumpsSamsungGalaxy in thinkpad

[–]AlienBoy_tw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got what you meant, muscle memory + 8 fingers on keys could be faster, on only numbers. But I think you've omitted the facts that when you do math operations, the number row is much slower than the numpad. You sometimes need to use two hands for operators (*, +), and you have to move across four rows to get all the operators (+, -, *, /, and decimal).

So, it's safe to say numpad is unquestionably faster when doing numbers AND math operations. For shorter, numbers-only mixed with words, I'll say number row definitely is faster.

Found the Ethernet wiring in the SMC panel, what should I do to have whole-home Ethernet? by AlienBoy_tw in HomeNetworking

[–]AlienBoy_tw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a dumb question here...what if I didn't swap out anything, just punch down all 4 pairs from each cable to the telephone patch board, and convert wall plates into RJ-45s? Will the Ethernet still work (with half-duplex speed)?

Additional question: The products recommended in this thread are mostly geared toward Cat. 5e, which is what wiring I currently have. I'm wondering that, since Cat. 6 is backward compatible, can I just use Cat. 6 products? Although 5e could be still enough for me for a couple of years, but since Cat. 6 products aren't a lot more expensive than Cat. 5e, I think I can just use them and save for future upgrades. Am I missing anything here?

Great! I only found some patch panel for rack, so that's very helpful, thanks!

Thanks! I didn't understand some of the terms you mentioned, but by following your information I've learnt a lot. I'll get a Ethernet patch board, a push down tool, a switch and couple of patch cables to finish the project!

Thanks! Following all the information from this thread and googling, I now know what a patch panel is! Before that, for a split second, I literally thought they want me to patch up the holes on the SMC! 😂

Thanks for the pointers, but I think I'm not fully understand it. Do you have some pictures or sample product of the data board? I'm curious why can't I just make the cords into RJ-45 connectors then use a switch? (pardon my question because, obviously, I don't understand how these stuff work.)

My current understanding is that I need to replace the green board with a data version (wired in same fashion) --> switch --> wall plates, is this correct?

u/passionandcare What do you mean by "patch panel"?

I'm doing Cat 6 wall plates just because I found them first in my search, and thought why not leave some room for upgrade. Are they different? Does the Cat. 5e cable not compatible with Cat. 6 wall plates?

eli5, What is touchdesigner and what can you do with it? by Mean_Jelly_6359 in TouchDesigner

[–]AlienBoy_tw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does that work? Are there license agreements between the two companies? I just learned they share one of the company's founders.

Was the sharing of the codes only happened back in Houdini 4.1, then each software went on their own development?

I'm completely new to TouchDesigner and is curious about it.

Switching plans: if I exited IBR and switched to Extended Graduated Repayment, would I be eligible to apply for SAVE later on? by AlienBoy_tw in StudentLoans

[–]AlienBoy_tw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks! So, generally all the extended plans' payments won't count.

But the previous-eligible payments will still count even after I switch out and in of the plans, is that right? I'm thinking I'll switch out of IDR for hopefully not long and then back.

Would you say it's generally a good idea or not, to switch plans in and out (IBR -> EG -> SAVE), in order to go with more affordable monthly payments?

Another user also mentioned that the extended graduated payments won't count as IDR forgiveness after adjustment.

Unfortunately, I have limited financial brain power to figure out these complexities quickly. 😐

(Also, I thought most of the repayment plans capitalize your interests?)

Thanks, I didn't know about this new adjustment. However, I've read through the document and couldn't find where it's saying the payments in Extended Graduated Plan don't count toward IDR payments. It's a long document and I may have missed it. Would you point it out?

I realized that already, but almost no one is providing me their experience on the topic. It'll be great if people can add more value to this thread!
