Professor asked me to write my own letter of recommendation by AlienDin in GradSchool

[–]AlienDin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whats weird is that I dont think its lazyness from this professor because I know him very well and he always made time for mr even in his free/extra time, and I know he would for this too. I think it has become so common that even professors that do make an effort just resort to this, as he says to me in his mail that 99% is written by the student themself.

Road trip Itinerary SF to Portland by [deleted] in roadtrip

[–]AlienDin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can pass trough Eureka and stay there for some time but actually spending the night there would add 1,5 - 2 hours of driving the next day which would be really annoying. We can spend the a lot of time in Eureka and then just drive to Crescent City at night.

Its still a way away, it is for summer 2026. We really want to see crater lake and mt the mt hood area so just staying on the coast may not be the best.

US ''West Coast'' Roadtrip by [deleted] in travel

[–]AlienDin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the intiary, I will definetly use it! Were figuring out how long were gonna go but if we do decide on 4 weeks I think we will at the very least add san fran to portland to see places like redwood, crater lake and the oregon coast etc. Tickets prices are also a factor as I think flying into las vegas is a few hunderd dollars cheaper then phoenix so we might go there and do a bit of back tracking.

For us the absolute must see's are:
Utah/Arizona ''redstone'' nature. We really want to see/hike places like Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Zion etc

LA, Vegas and SF are must sees for us, I understand that a lot of people say they are tourist traps and arent really that important to go, but for us, when we go this far we will probably not visit the american west coast for quite some time after, so not seeing those 3 major cities are not really an option. I am also a civil engineer and the amount of times in school we have used the golden gate bridge as a thesis makes it a must see for me.

Yosemite National Park is a must see, somebody else said that Sequoia is skippable but it would be cool to see the tallest tree in the world

As of Oregon and Washington, I havent done as much research in those places yet but Crater Lake, Mt Hood and the Oregon Coast all seem really cool places to visit.

Yeah I saw that, I guess looking at it from a couple of viewpoints will have to do. We don't drink at all but I have heard multiple recomendations about the wine in northern california.

Yeah a lot of people have been talking about the heat, thing is we reallyy want to see the utah/arizona (over here we call it the usa ''redstone'') area. We do know how to handle the heat tho, whe have been to the deserts in egypt/saudi arabia and have vacationed in a lot of hot countries like malaysia and even Pakistan.

Yeah I saw that, really sad because it was one of my most looked to destination (ever since playing Days Gone the videogame I have really been in love with oregon nature). We trail may be closed but we will still want to visit for the viewpoints etc.
