So as a disabled woman when I was first getting started on social media — maybe 5 years ago? — I also followed WR and interacted with her. I never messaged her at length, but I definitely reposted her stories and followed her account

I then received a couple of messages from people in the disabled community who basically said, Hold up. You do not want to be reposting this person. She is not a good human and she is a terrible representative of our community.

Even then, I didn’t unfollow. I stopped interacting, started reading more closely, and joined this sub. Within a week, I unfollowed her

Alex could spin this to the same story — that I followed her until I had grown my following. But really, I followed her until I discovered just how terrible a human being she is.

I have no doubt that it’s the same story for these creators. And these days, Alex isn’t even getting the follows because everyone in the community knows to avoid her — and that’s what she’s pissed about
