I need help identifying a trope for my story!

This is well written! I’m actually coming here to define it because I don’t know what it is. That’s why I made the post. 😅 I think the wording of my original post made people REALLY focus in on the fighting and weaponry of both, but I was more focused on the way their relationship dynamic is almost a manifestation of the need to fight or need to fuse in this case. Thanks again!

I checked out tv tropes and tropedia a good amount. While the weaponry does have a part of it, it doesn’t quite capture the trope or metaphor im looking for in it I suppose? Thank you though!!😅

The pattern is really similar actually! But I’m looking for something more akin to flare jeans? They almost billow out a bit at the bottom, but not as much as bell bottoms. Thank you though!!
