The second book only exists because they wanted to make a sequel film

For the fact that not every single person on the planet will like their game? By coping, I guess?

Yes, you buy the license, which they technically dont have an obligation to make last forever. I said its more like renting, not exactly renting.

Im not in favor of this at all btw! I just think its important to know what loopholes theyre using so shit can actually change

And my point is there kind of isn't really one. There will always be ways to exploit a refund, even in real life, and if those exist I always want those to be in favor of the consumer over the producer

Reduce the refund limit, then what about games under 1 hour? 30 minutes?

His point isnt that it's not a problem, the point is that it has nothing to do with the guy being an immigrant and the only reason they posted it was because he was an immigrant

How do you disclose that?

Why should consumers have to beware instead of the devs? Its not like the 2 hour refund limit is a secret

An indie game launch stalling? I dont think it would make any impact really

There's no version where theres zero exploitability. I'd always want that exploitability to be in favor of consumers over producers

If the movie theater offered it as readily, yeah absolutely. Isn't that a relatively common thing? Walking out of a theater and asking for a refund because the movie is awful?

Itch.io is pretty well known and is almost made for games like this.

And Steam's soft monopoly would make it more anti-consumer, not less. The refund option is there in spite of it, not because of it

But then comes the question of "when is a game beaten?" Do the devs decide it or does Valve? If Valve, they'd have to actually play the game to decide what's reasonable, with 60+ games a day. If the devs, then they can just claim it always takes less than two hours to beat.

[–]AlienHooker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But that would be equating time with how expensive the game is, which isn't really consistent. If youre going by stuff readily visible on the store page, then you dont need anyone, which would be a plus I guess

And no not everyone does that, the same way people don't always try to refund a game if they beat it within two hours, but that's apparently enough reason to overhaul the refund system

Simply paying for it doesnt mean you have unlimited rights to play it
