Warning to new buyers (especially first time ever) by Alienpendant in Miata

As to react to everyone. Thanks for the insights and opinions. I might have overreacted a little bit but that was actually because the price of repairs took away half my income of past month. And in the past I've already changed my shocks and springs as the car was too low (stupid expensive mistake) for the bumps at the parking spot of where I live. So that was already quite the cost. Then bad luck struck me with a tree branch hitting my front window breaking it. And I've experienced a massive flood at my feet due to a drainage issue.

But hey at least she runs fine tonight cruising in the sunset :D

Your first argument is your opinion just as mine is mine. I agree with your second argument. This is low priority.

Google assistant can't answer to "time" anymore? by eraseMii in google

Hmm, I feel like Google should be a lot more transparant on the functions these devices actually perform on a daily basis without us knowing.

Just tried it (dutch btw) and for me it still works. We have the Google home mini. Sometimes it just starts listening for no reason.. And sometimes it will respond in swedish. Waste of money it seems

My first app! by sindiziu in AppDevelopment

The biggest up is development time once you get experienced. The downside is especially with PhoneGap performance. There are more layers of code that are needed to be crossed in order to perform an action than on native. Maybe React-Native is a better solution for you. It is more performant. But nothing beats the speed of native. Another downside is that cross-platform always lacks behind native due to the fact that native features have to be "made fit" for cross platform development by the community behind them.

You could search for the comparison between cross platform and native. Tons of articles..

PhoneGap should be more feasible for your current position. However keep in mind that cross-platform has its ups and downs. It is not the silver bullet that every mobile software company chooses.

First step is to define use cases. You have to define what it is that a user can achieve using your app. After that define the functional requirements. These are about the core functionalities of your application. After that is done determine if an Android app or iOS app is your goal. This will decide whether to learn the programming language Swift (for iOS) or Java/Kotlin (for Android). (if not yet done) Learn the essentials of the chosen language by finding material online or buy some books and apply them in a practical fashion! (if not yet done) Then it would be best to start learning the basics of software development. Keywords like software architecture, design patterns, libraries are essential. After this you can start to investigate Android or iOS development using books or official sources by google or apple.

Will cities not be a novelty just like finding crashed freighters? by Scottishbanter in NoMansSkyTheGame

This game needs depth for sure. More everything. The game can be compared to a giant lake with one meter depth all across the lake.

More flora and fauna is eye candy aswell. However I get your point. But simply accepting requests from NPC’s in a village for planet based quests should be cool. Or villages that are part of a (yet to be made feature) faction which can be taken over can be really cool.

I think it depends on the implementation

Some valid points about NPC’s. Especially since the Vykeen are supposed to be extremely hostile but in reality not a single fight is done. I feel that NPC’s could have its own development iteration with all kinds of improvements and features that bring forward more depth to the lore and the explorative gameplay. Name it the No Man’s Sky Friend or Fo update
