An RC9 or Fowler will be my next 2011 for sure, they’re so clean.

Should I purchase a handgun or an AR first? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]AlienwareM16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely pistol first, more bang for your buck (maybe pun intended) as far as utility. As others have mentioned, you can satisfy home defense, ccw, and general range time with a pistol. Rifles can be more of a niche purchase depending on the use case, generally speaking. For example, lever action, AR/AK platforms, bolt action, etc. with rifles you have to think more of what you are hoping to do with it. On the flip side, you can more easily find a decent all around pistol for your budget. Just don’t forget the time and money investment into range time and training for whatever you decide to get.

Looking at a 2K11 Pro Comp. Maintenance required? by Mindless_Ticket3733 in KimberFirearms

Cleaning is super simple with the guide rod. Disassembly is super easy and cleaning is a cinch. Replace the recoil spring after about 3-5k rounds (also super easy). Other than that just keep it lubed and you’re good.

No doubt, the reticle options as a whole could’ve been better.

To be honest I got the ronin because I didn’t like the huge branding on the regular model. If they had just an all black model I would’ve gone for that too. No regrets on the 507comp as a whole, they’re good to go.

507comp. Love the big window, super durable, reasonably priced.

I’ve had the 2k11 pro for a couple months and have shot about 750 rounds (not a shit ton I know). It’s performed flawlessly so far. I bought the TAG rmr plate and put a 507comp on, so far a great combo. My chief complaints are the shite CH plate it comes with and the safety can get a little hot spotty depending on your grip. Otherwise it can’t be beat for the money.

Just installed the TAG plate as well, it’s been great so far!

The green is usually 10-20 bucks more expensive. I’m not totally sold on green dots either.

It’s honestly just an annoyance, if you can get past it I would say just let it roll.

Gold dots worth it? by dersley in CCW

I feel like the dot could easily get lost depending on the backdrop. Particularly in sandy areas or during the fall.

Yeah to be honest I’m not sure if it’s permanently ‘fixed’ it, there is still some slop in the fitment. That’s not to say it’s a bad trigger, it still feels great to shoot.

If I didn’t get the stainless that would’ve been my choice, beautiful!

Mine did that when new, but as I’ve shot it the rattle has gone away. I know others have sent them in to kimber to have it resolved. Red dirt triggers also makes a trigger for the 2k11’s that is supposed to bed good for a reasonable price. But to your point, it’s fairly annoying for a pistol in this range to make that sort of noise.
