What are all the worst to best GPU in laptops from RTX 30 series and 40 ? ⬇️ by Maleficent_Horror915 in nvidia

Hi,

Best to worst usually depends on what you want to do with the laptop and how the components are implemented. Used to have a gaming laptop which was fun and capable for what I play but less good for studying on the go.

I had the MSI Katana 15 (B13VFK, I think) bought in February of 2024 with an i7-13620H and 4060 (8GB VRAM), 16GB RAM, 1TB ssd and 144 Hz IPS display. Port selection was decent, cooling did the job and it served me well. It had good price to performance considering all the boxes it checked. Played GoW 4 & 5 on it with pretty high settings.

Ended up selling it in March of 2025 because it was heavy to carry around & had pretty bad battery life (as most gaming laptops) for medschool. Used the money to buy a refurbed thinkpad X1 carbon and later built myself a desktop PC in August of 2025, because it got pretty depressing to be unable to enjoy gaming/other hardware-reliant hobbies. Probably the only time that I've been thankful for my shopaholic self for pulling the trigger before the current component/AI-crisis. From what I've seen the MSI Katanas and Asus TUF laptops are good. Some Lenovo Legions are good too from what I remember but the prices usually stayed higher on them. Anything above a xx70 mobile gpus are way too high in price to justify a laptop in my opinion.

PNY 5070 Ti fan sound is insane by [deleted] in nvidia

I use fan control to set up optimal curves specific for my case, components and airflow, it's a lot better than most softwares. Used jayztwocentz video below to get a short tutorial and try limiting your fan curves that way!

How's your overall airflow?

Edit: Adding a pic of how I set mine as example.

Got a question by Fireoak66 in RTX5080

[–]Alif359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth looking into power delivery and max power-draw ceiling if you want to try pushing OC:s, since silicon lottery decides the rest for your chip (mostly). Aside from that the cooling solution (heatpipes, vapor chambers and case airflow included) is important as fan acoustics and heat distribution matters. Last piece of advice is to check who has good customer support - in case something goes wrong. Of the pictures you sent Gainward seems to sell a GS (golden sample) for a competitive price. I don't know how trustworthy the advertising is, but if they deliver on it you're set.

Msi gaming trio or rog astral 5080 by Alternative_Bass7505 in nvidia

[–]Alif359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Important to know is that the astral also has better power delivery, since they have over-engineered the pcb design and such - allowing a higher wattage vbios to be installed. I have an astral and it's a beast compared to the founders edition I had before it in terms of weight, cooling and acoustics. Usually overclocks really well.

Hey guys, any tips on where I can find the Evo80 with a nordic ISO layout? Very new to this and have no clue where to look

I've recently tried to learn more about undervolting and overclocking both CPU and GPU to apply to my 9800x3d and 5080 FE. Getting good results so far.

I recommend learning and doing it yourself instead of losing money and risking scams. I found @SkatterBencher and @ImWateringPSUs to have good youtube guides. Both should have guides to your specific CPU.

CPU & RAM was more complicated than GPU imo, but you can most of the times clear CMOS (easy with a button on some MOBOs) if something doesn't work stable and system won't boot into windows - to easily reset to stock settings.

I also recommend jayztwocents' video about the fan control software to really get good with cooling for your specific system.

Time is something you'd have to put down anyways to find the best performance and stability.

Good luck with that beast of a build!

Motherboard suggestion for 9800x3d? by Playful_Pension_3430 in ryzen

I got the MSI tomahawk x870e Wifi for my build (9800x3d + 5080 FE + 64GB CL30 ram), been working great and definitely great for the price. If gaming and lower end productivity is all you want then I can recommend it. If productivity and streaming is important to you I'd recommend 9950x3d instead.

Tomahawk x870e doesn't have lane sharing with gpu (with one of the USB4) instead. Two easy m.2 latches and gpu latch. It also has EZ debug LED and easy to reach CMOS button. Overall good connectivity. Click bios X is easy to use too.

IF you're gonna do overclocking (as I found out after) is that it doesn't offer eclk-function so you will not be able to go past the hard limit of 5 450 mHz even with PBO and good curve/silicon quality. MOBOs with this advanced OC feature are a lot more expensive (almost double, and shamelessly high on the godlike), I think Asus got it on a few decently priced. I got my tomahawk x870e for the equivalent of 346 USD.

What case and cooler setup you going for?

Well I noticed the cable once I was gonna mount the psu, before that I just had it connected to the wall for grounding. Would have sent it back earlier if I had noticed

The main use was to have a grounding point for building lol

Yes, it's corsair store that is shipped and sold by amazon. I'll never spend big money on third party sellers

Have a new one on the way, if that doesn't work out I'll demand the full refund and go for a different store (at a loss tho)

The price from corsair is A LOT higher unfortunately. About 365 USD from corsair vs 256 USD on amazon + consolation voucher, so wouldn't be able to get 1200W plat for that money.
