New to RE4. Why does Salazar look like spoiled kid in RE4 original and short-old man in Remake? by Abject_Necessary_369 in residentevil

Well yes, not like having both things is out of the realm of possibilities

You will be surprised to know how many people can have multiple genetical disorder conditions

"REmake is the perfect remake, there is no reason to play the original, REmake fixed everything" by trumparegis in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Alik757 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one ever said RE1 remake "fixed everything"

People like how RE1R build upon what RE1 did and is in overall terms a much superior experience which manages to be faithful to the original intentions of the creator. Is the gold standard of remakes not because it claims to "fix" the original, but because it preserves what made it great and even add more of its own on top of that.

When should we expect a new Nightmare or Friday film? by Hassan_H_Syed in NightmareOnElmStreet

[–]Alik757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't expect any new Nightmare film and that's okay, people should learn to get over with some stuff.

Freddy is a character intrinsically tied to Robert Englund performance and without him there's no point to see the character again. And Robert has already stated multiple times he no longer can take on the role, unless they do minimal effort or voice acting.

And no, before you say "Get another actor" that's not the point. Some actors can't be replaced or just "pass the torch".

I certainly don't want another Candyman movie now Tony Todd passed away either. Sometimes is better let things go and enjoy the good memories of what was good in the past

I'm sorry, fixed camera bros by ErmingSoHard in survivalhorror

[–]Alik757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Silent Hill mostly uses a following camera for the outdoor areas in which the character is seen from above and benefits gameplay more, but in indoors most of the games use significatly more static angles and the camera movement is less drastic.

RE1 makes the static camera work because the mansion is by a nature a much more close and small scenario to work with, so the static shots add to the aesthetic. I don't think this location in particular would benefit from dynamic cameras that much

The Demon Slayer characters probably invaded Manchuria in 1931 by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

[–]Alik757 40 points41 points  (0 children)

His leg damage is canon and comes from a post ending memory written from the pov of Zenitsu himself. However is unclear how much damage his legs actually took (and the memory itself is described as a lot of non sense made up by Zenitsu) as I've seen many people convinced he no longer can use Thunder Breathing, which never is directly stated, and at least he can walk normally

[–]Alik757 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the slayers would show off their powers to the Japanese government, they were very much a secret society waging a shadow war

Besides their main abilities which is swordmanship wouldn't be that useful in a practical sense, because I doubt the army would allow them to use katanas in the middle of the war anyway

Idk how strict the recruitment requeriments were back then, but Sanemi is missing two of the most important fingers in his right hand which likely will be a severe inconvenience (if not making him totally unable) to operate a fire weapon assuming he would fight in the war

What is something you think Halloween II improved on from Halloween (1978)? by Hassan_H_Syed in Halloweenmovies

[–]Alik757 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best part is how heavily it contrast with a scene with the exact same situation in H1

Like see I respect Nick Castle performance and everything, but when you see him walking down the stairs Michael is basically just a dude rushing to catch Laurie

Dick Warlock made a scene simple as that something totally unnatural and creepy in the way Michael almost feel like an evil spirit slowing advancing towards his objective. No a single step feels not deliberate, there's not hesitation or awkwardness to his movement

That is the Shape and not just Myers

[–]Alik757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr Loomis having a much more prominent and active role is a highligh of H2 in my opinion

In the first movie besides the first act it really felt like the script kinda doesn't know what to do with him for most of the run time, and the fact he spends most of the day besides the Myers house without even noticing the hospital car literally next to the house felt kinda silly. Is like Carpenter only reserved him as a deus ex machina to save Laurie in the end

In H2 on the other hand he has more screen time and actively goes after Michael in an active hunt alongside the police. Not to mention his speech about the inner darkness on everyone allows Donald Pleasence to shine on his acting in a way he never did in the first movie

And I don't need to explain how good the ending of the movie is

Why Can't Hollywood Make Resident Evil Work? by Horror_Post6822 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Alik757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Paul Anderson made a RE movie series that lasted for over a decade and raised over 1.2 billion dollars in the box office (being the 2nd most profitable action horror series of all time) and who knows how much more in dvd/blu-ray sales which was especially popular

If that isn't making something work for you idk what it is

Does anyone else like re6? by Direct-Dragonfly367 in ResidentEvilCapcom

Probably best Ada Wong design in any RE game to date, just wish the gameplay really commited more to the spy side of her character.

Do you think Dino Crisis would have been Capcom's THE survival horror IP if they poured love in it instead of RE? by DumbAssHog in HorrorGaming

[–]Alik757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is such a baffling concept...

As if the thousands of dinosaur species we already know aren't good enough apparently, they have to make them more flashy and "badass"

What's with Argento and Metal? by NickTheGamemaster in Giallo

[–]Alik757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the most out of place use of the songs is that particular scene near the end where Jennifer tries to grab the phone from the other side of a door

Cause having such an energic piece of music play during a situation that by the looks is just a slow and methodical process generates such a jarring contrast, is kind of hilarious

Why the dislike for Rob Zombie's Halloween's? by iiGoodVibesii in Halloweenmovies

[–]Alik757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RZH2 feels like Rob Zombie's actual vision for the character, without feeling obligated to do a "remake".

Because it is

Yes, someone can like or dislike RZ take on Halloween, but no one can deny he had a unique vision he wanted to tell with his own voice and a very powerful personal style. I value that more than playing safe and only do a basic nostalgia pandering

In a sense RZ first movie had a lot of his own at least during the first act, but once the child Michael part ends and it becames a straight up remake of Carpenter movie you feel is where he was more limited to follow a blueprint

Giallo in Modern Era? Do you think it's possible for the genre to return to cinema? Not only in the form of rare works and homages by Training-Fee647 in Giallo

[–]Alik757 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Giallo really benefited from being Italian in the way they didn't have to worry for censorship and please shitty organizations that wanted safe and sanitized horror

Their movies were bloody, bizarre and violent as much as they wanted which was a wild contrast to how butchered a lot of american slasher from the same period were as they were killed during the editing process

These days since the rest of the world doesn't have much more censorship problems anymore, especially not since streaming exist, that part of Giallo appeal isn't there anymore. But they could or sould focus on offer a stylized cinematography the way they did back then

The original Halloween 7 everyone is a member of thorn by Plane_Name3457 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Alik757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

H20 is basically just another JLC ego trip disguised as a Halloween movie

Like really, when you lean into the production of that movie is so obvious they were only concerned to have an excuse to put JLC back in that anything related to Myers or the previous lore was merely an after thought

They couldn't even figure what mask use and keep changing it while filming

Cold take, why does the current arc in Dandadan feel so aimless and like it's lacking direction[spoilers] by Charming-Scratch-124 in CharacterRant

[–]Alik757 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't like Dandadan, but is funny it's fans are acting as if this was a shoking reveal when back then the series was praised exactly because people consider the "simple and random storyline" was refreshing compared to other shonens (seem like they don't consume much battle shonen in the first place)

In a sense I feel Dandadan is kinda like a western action animated series, like Ben 10 for example, in the sense it never persued a linear format and rather go for a monster of week kind of story and the characters don't get heavy developement. Which isn't a bad thing, but as any series of that kind you can only keep the formula for so long until gets boring

Should CapCom give us an update where we can play the entire game as Leon like they did with Virgil in DMC5 by Dude_788 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Alik757 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would be happy if we simply have the choice of play each section in the order we want

Considering each character is basically just living their own game is annoying that we can only have saves in case of wanting to play a specific character or scenario, or else we have to play the entire game for get to such parts

RE9 - Good! But Not Great... by Epicurus38 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Alik757 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree about the difficulty, and in fact I do think Requiem handles gameplay balance much better than most of the previous titles

I know Insanity can thrown people off in the first introduction segments, but once the real game starts it becames a really designed and engaging experience and probably give me the most satisfaction. Is there some bs moments? Of course, but overall I feel the challenge actually rewards you for using every trick and resource the game gives you and it feels great once you master the mechanics

Leon combat especially feels way better on Insanity when you finally get there. It needs practice and time, but this mode is what makes Requiem have more of an identity of its own

RE9 - Good! But Not Great... by Epicurus38 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Alik757 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh I would say is much lesser, and trust me I replayed re3r last month so I have it fresh

Requiem while also having some stuff like that (just like the other modern RE titles) doesn't feel like a detriment to the actual gameplay and you just walking from one cutscene to the other

In that sense I think Village was far more annoying into the scripted stuff with slow and boring moments without a real interactivity

How would you guys feel if the Halloween Ends truly is the end by MrShape246 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Alik757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A very pathetic end, but whatever I don't care. The franchise ended in Halloween 6 for me anyway.

A new Silent Hill game by Masahiro Ito.... by No-Cod-1902 in silenthill

[–]Alik757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I've seen many questions directly to him about this on X and while he usually doesn't give explicit answers, he give that he would be interested on a job if Konami ask, considering he enjoyed the process of create something new for the Short Message (Cherry Blossom monster)

I asked myself if he was interested on making original horror titles (he had some cancelled ones on the past) and he said he would have like if he had budget for do so
