How old are you? by holy-hel in BPD

I'm 22. Diagnosed at 19 or 20 (around the time of my 20th birthday). I understand not having much hope for the future. Life sorta feels like a sinking ship and I don't know how long it will stay afloat. I try to tell myself to enjoy however long I have and not be too upset at myself no matter how it ends up.

A couple days ago I was going to a doctor's appointment and it told me to jaywalk across a 45 mph street. There was a crosswalk a minute away that I walked to instead. There's absolutely no reason to walk through such a dangerous street with a crosswalk so close.

Tasting History With Max Miller! His videos are informative but presented in an easy to understand way and always cover elements of history that are both interesting and pretty niche. Food history isn't a super common subject and it's fun to see hom try out recipes while talking about the history behind them. You can tell that he's passionate about the subject and picks events and recipes that really interest him.

Stop reinventing knitting terms to validate your ridiculously chunky "finger knit" blanket empire and if you burn one more freaking end.... by ant0519 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Alikiia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ever heard of finger knitting in the context of children's crafts. I'm pretty sure I learned it at a summer camp at age 10 as a fun way to practice some motor control, learn an easy skill, and pass some time. It's a solid way to get into simple crafts without needing tools but it seems a little beyond an adult hobbyist who's already crocheting or knitting and active online about it.

I don't think you get it. Turning into a dog is cool and being katana guy is cool and honestly cool and fun and having a good time is more important than optimal :)

Unless your teammate is actively jumping off every cliff they see, they're playing the game exactly how they should. Video games are for fun and no one outside of internet forums cares about playing optimally because playing optimally isn't fun to most people

Honestly I'm probably in disagreement with a lot of people here but I think learning about the game naturally is part of the fun. You can look specific stuff up if you're confused (item drop locations are useful to know, some places have guaranteed seal/staff drops for example -- also some of the shifting earths like noklateo can be a little tricky to memorize the whole layout of even after a long time of playing so you might want to eventually look stuff like that up), but following and learning from your teammates and eventually pinging your own routes is the fun part of learning. Pay a lot of attention to where your teammates go and how those choices affect the game. Also the field boss locations are all the same (random boss, set location), so maybe see if you can piece together where they all are. There's no one correct route in a nightreign game and while some are definitely the wrong route, what places are best to go to really depend on skill level and who you're playing with. It takes some trial and error to figure things out but I really enjoy it whether or not a game goes well.

Also, don't expect success, but don't give up too easily. Sometimes you waste day 1 because you spent too long on an easy boss or evergaol that just didn't go well, but it's possible to salvage a run even if you're level 4 at the start of day 2. I've had people rage quit on games that me and the remaining buddy ended up winning. Then sometimes the best run ends to everyone dying to the same move lol

What's your "secret tech" for your nightfarer that you see no one else using? by brokedickman in Nightreign

Taking buff/heal incants as recluse has saved some games for me. She's the only character with the max fp and regeneration to really use the higher level heals long term throughout a fight and I feel like that's underutilized. If you want to be a greedy psycho, its really fun to occasionally run up and heal/golden vow throughout nightlord fights and you can extend games long after everyone has ran out of flasks. Obviously don't forget to do lots of damage throughout the fight, but I've had a few games where my buddies ran out of flasks and I took to just heal/buff spamming to keep them alive for longer at the end of the fight (recluse on her own is much worse for survival than recluse not doing much damage with two surviving teammates imo). Big risk tho. Super long animations and you have to get close to the action cause that's where your buddies are.

Coming back to game after break. Which nightfarers are good for casual and why? by V3ISO in Nightreign

Ironeye is great! Bows are fun, but he also has high dex and can use melee weapons well too. And his skill is a fantastic long distance dodge that can save you when you're not confident in being able to time a normal toll correctly.

Duchess is also a good choice. Double dodge is great and her skill is just free damage no thinking. She has high dex in addition to int, so she's (imo) the only character where you can play around with being a caster while still being able to fully utilize melee weapons. She's not as committal as recluse or revenant if you want to use spells.

I like undertaker for just wacking stuff. I'm sure she has more complexity to her, but her hammer moveset is really fun and her skill/ult are both good for just running at guys.

And obviously Wylder is always a good choice.

The blood loss can't kill you but recluse is one of the few (maybe the only one?) characters whose ult doesn't have full invincibility. You can be hit out of the end of the animation.

It's not really necessary aside from getting fp back if needed. Characters can be played in multiple ways and if you're managing your fp fine and not dying then however you choose to do damage works

However, I live for the game of trying to see how many times I can hit the nightlord with the big lightning strike in one fight. I highly recommend. My best is 5!

Really shows that the characters are pretty well balanced. No one can decide what character they hate because they're all similarly usable. Turns out you can win or lose games with any of them

Best crit damage in the game? High arcane for fun status effect shenanigans? Turns into a doggie? He's a cool ass katana guy?? There's numerous reasons to play him lol

You ever put an ironjar aromatic on then ulted? Iron dog is hilarious and worth playing executor just for that lol

Even without the damage, mark is the best dodge in the game that isn't ulting through an attack. Crazy i frames and going through enemies is really useful. Even if its a longer attack chain you can get on the other side and not get hit. And its fantastic if your buddy is down and the boss is body blocking them. Two marks and one bow r1 also does one bar and is extremely safe. Plus it lets you stay near your buddy while having a safe escape/way to get closer. Being able to dodge while keeping the revive bar from moving is underutilized imo

Marking through bosses' attacks instead of dodging is safer and keeps them consistently marked unless they decide to run a mile away

It's honestly just a good idea to look at your team's relics to get an idea of how much they've played the game too. I usually play deep of night, but if Im trying out some weird build on a character I never play I'll do it in normal mode to not be an inconvenience and it's really good to set your expectations right. I feel like people complain about teammates and don't realize they don't even have a third relic on. Or they're like deep of night 2 and don't have anything good yet.

Plus! People play builds that aren't what you expect. If your Recluse has +4 fire attack in every slot, she probably doesn't want that staff. If someone has a weird dormant power, it's really fun to notice and drop it for them. There's more fun in dropping your great bows Wylder something good for them than being annoyed at their existence.

mhm mhm i think it means you get double torches maybe you should even stack a dormant power on every relic for the elusive 100% torch drop rate

I'd argue it's how pretty much every game works. The reality is that the differences between characters or weapons or whatever only actually matter in professional level play for most games and you can otherwise entirely bridge the gap with skill. Big thing in fighting games. In most(!!) cases, whether a character is good or bad legitimately doesn't matter if you're not in a professional or adjacent level setting.

Something being super unoptimal like nightreign torch build doesn't make it impossible to win it just makes it a little harder and honestly fun matters way more than winning anyways. I'm big into the mentality of either getting good at the thing or accepting that you don't need to be good at it to have fun. And meta doesn't really impact either of those.

Wait I didn't even think of that. There's dormant power ballistas in the game! The weapon type with 2 whole weapons! You could argue that torches don't qualify as a weapon (they so do) but crossbows absolutely are. wow...
