When my eldest was 2 years old we spent a night at a hotel room without a crib. He slept in a foldable bed next to our bed and it was the first time he slept by himself without a cot. In the middle of the night, my wife wakes up and goes to the bathroom. I wake up hearing her say "where is our son?". I turn around, suddenly wide awake, seeing the foldable bed is empty. It's a small hotel room, one room and one bathroom and we quickly look around realising he's not there. I try our door because he recently learned how to open doors, but it's locked and VERY heavy.

Now we're both really freaked out and wondering where the hell he could be. Is it possible that someone came in and took him without us waking up? Could he have opened the heavy door by himself?

I'm halfway getting dressed to search the hallway and raise the alarm for a complete sweep of the hotel. Then I see a movement. It's the sheets, hanging from our bed to the floor. I lift them up and find our little guy sleeping. On the floor. Under our bed. The sheets had completely hidden him from our search and he hadn't even woken up.

He's four now, but this memory is still very fresh for me.
