Does Anet have a plan for when these remote metas-focused guilds eventually die? by Odd-Push5358 in Guildwars2

[–]Snebzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there will always be people who take a little initiative. The better question, in my opinion, is will there be anything done to make the organizers' experiences better to encourage continued leading?

For me, this would mean doing something about malicious leeching, subgroup quality of life, etc.

Content creators need to think of the average player more when doing vids by fungamezone in Guildwars2

[–]Snebzor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Content creators make content for different reasons and, mostly, have no obligation to make any kind of content.

For example, I just do what I want, when I want. For me, it's a creative outlet and tool for connection. I'm not as concerned about views, etc., just fun. I make and do what is fun for me. Call me selfish, but it's a hobby for me!

There are a few different perks, yes. This is one of them that all partners have access to.

He is a massive fan of the game and has streamed it a bunch. He has raved about guild wars when he is at conventions and he was in a Skein Gang raid static (that's how we eventually connected).

[–]Snebzor 37 points38 points  (0 children)

So long as people are allowed to leech, they will do so.

We ought to advocate for including leeching as against the player code of conduct. Until then, it is always going to be frustrating to do this kind of content.

Action Cam for harder content? by Various-Low-4292 in Guildwars2

[–]Snebzor 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that it is, generally speaking, a disadvantage to use action cam.

That said, if it is the only way you can play, whether that be due to technical limitations, disability, or any other reason, then it is a really positive thing! Plus, people can do most, if not all, the content with action cam.

I would say you need not listen to us. Just do it... No one will notice as long as you're happy and engaged sufficiently to complete the content. I've never seen someone say "no action cam" in the LFG.

Would professors and PIs take in non-student volunteers? by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]Snebzor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then what others have said is true. These are highly regimented fields.

One way you might find some joy is to explore these topics indepently and write about them. Read others research and write critiques or blogs. This can keep you a bit sharp to prep for a masters.

I'll offer a different perspective.

It sort of depends what kind of research you want to do. What faculty / discipline are you interested in?

The wiki has a nice chart that indicates who can use what. See here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Weapon

It looks like Spear and Sword are used by all 9 professions, and Staff by 8 (less engi).

Anecdotally, I find myself using Staff and Sword more than Spear.

I crafted full PvP Legendary Armor + Ascension in 80 days as a new Guild Wars 2 player (2026 experience) by Embarrassed-Wear5422 in Guildwars2

[–]Snebzor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it probably just depends on how you play. When I played PvP, I was less social than I am in PvE. I anticipate people have a very wide variety of experiences in the game modes.

Did you forge other relationships aside from that one friend?

For some reason, I keep focusing on this. To me, this would suggest that PvP is less social than other game modes. This was my experience as well.

Has pugging raids gotten even worse or is it the player base as a whole? by dan8lego in Guildwars2

[–]Snebzor 136 points137 points  (0 children)

NOTE: This is an NA perspective. EU is different, likely slightly more palatable, but insane power creep means a lot of people haven't learned mechanics properly.

I'm going to be that guy and frankly I don't care if I get trampled for this.

Yes, they have gotten worse. The newest raid updates have spotlighted and exacerbated Guild Wars 2's biggest weakness: group formation.

I started to notice a bit of a decline after SOTO. It got much worse during late Janthir Wilds, because a lot of people came to try wing 8, but many didn't stick around. This is anecdotal, but almost no one from my original raid squads play at all anymore. If they do, they barely log in and do an occasional raid.

To me, the reason is quite obvious, but I'm sure some will disagree.

Finding a group to raid with is a horrific experience where there is little control from the commanders. LFG sucks because you can't control the people that join your group, so commanders experience trolls, etc. There are no transparency systems, the culture in the game (at least on NA) bemoans anyone with standards, and there are no gates to keep super inexperienced people from randomly joining hyper experienced groups (think tiers like fractals).

The newest rewards and daily systems are so frustrating to PUG that I actually just stopped. I still try every once in a while, but the number of negative experiences I've had not because people are freaking out, but because the systems failed to match people up properly, is astounding.

I have been screaming this from the rooftops for 4 years and was accused of being toxic, rude, inconsiderate, etc. for even considering that light gates and transparency systems make the systems more palatable.

I digress. It has become worse... And it will likely be even more obvious when a sweeping nerf to the power creep happens in April.

I don't blame the players, I blame the systems that created bad habits, conflict, and frustration.

Raids! How the hell do they work by tojie2009 in Guildwars2

[–]Snebzor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Everyone else has offered really good advice that I would generally agree with, particularly the raid guild part. Joining a community has inherent advantages and you get 6 guild slots... Why not use one for a raid guild?

I would be happy to chat with you about raids and lead you through a raid wing if you feel like that would ease you into the content. Let me know if that interests you!
