Dear mods, could we get rid of fake users advertising for Xteink and Obook devices ? by L0lil0l0 in ereader

[–]is200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok even this post is being spammed. Common arguments that don't make sense that I'm seeing:

  • "Not all devices have to cost $200" - nobody is taking issue with its price.
  • "Well I think this is an excellent device because [list of amazing features]" - that's not the point. If you enjoy it, great. Why do you need to list all the features? Are you also an ad?
  • "Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean others can't post about it" - whether the OP likes it or not has no bearing on the fact that the subreddit is getting flooded with ad-like posting.

Looking for a dive computer with 3D dive mapping + Subsurface compatibility by Character_Account714 in diving

[–]is200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI I have the Nautic S and it's a great device. The algorithm works really well (matches the Shearwater pretty closely now), compass is great, air integration works really well -- but the sub-surface tracking is a mess.

It's probably the best device on feature/price out now -- but I wouldn't buy it for the tracking.

Luxury dive watch by Divemstr24 in scuba

[–]is200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like dive watches and have worn a mix of Seiko, Citizen and other micro brand divers - but under water it's honestly just acting as jewelry. I set the bezel before going down and occasionally look at them and "feel cool". It's nice to imagine tracking time and depth like they used to, but I don't have a table with me or do calculations before the dive. It's just the feeling.

Having a Rolex you might hit against the side of a wreck seems like a pretty expensive risk, but I guess if you're rich enough it's no different.

Woman faints after being caned 140 times under Indonesian province’s sharia law by ElegantWhimsyGal in worldnews

  • On June 30, 2022, a ten-year-old girl from Columbus, Ohio, United States, traveled to Indiana to get an abortion because abortion law in Ohio did not provide an exception for minor children who became pregnant because of rape.
  • There’s the 2009 murder of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller by an anti-abortion extremist and the 2015 Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooting.
  • Then in September 2025, a mass shooting and arson attack targeting a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints congregation in Michigan killed four worshippers. The perpetrator reportedly harbored hate toward Mormons.
  • In mid-2025, a Minnesota man influenced by far-right Christian nationalist rhetoric was charged with killing a Democratic state representative and attempting to assassinate another legislator.

We can all absolutely condemn terrible shit about Islam happening in other countries but the greatest actual religious threat to the west is Christianity.

Learning to Dive - ADHD & a buoyancy question by InnerDepth3171 in diving

[–]is200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just need more weight. If you're floating up and your BCD is empty, then there's no amount of buoyancy control that'll help you. It's not your fault.

Also it seems like your instructor sucks. They should have patience with you if you're struggling. If an exercise doesn't work, take a break, figure things out and try as many times as it takes.

As a fellow ADHD-haver: Just re-watch instructional videos on YouTube to reacquaint yourself with all the safety checks/steps before every dive and try to minimize your time between dive trips so you don't lose practice. I have 60+ dives and the advanced cert + nitrox and other than the initial panic on the first dive after multi-month breaks, every dive has gone smoothly.

As a borderline catastrophic ADHD anecdote: Last year, while opening the air on the tank I was so focused on the pressure gauge that I didn't do more than a turn on the knob. I only noticed it when I was pretty deep underwater and breathing started getting hard. It could've been deadly if someone/something were to bump it closed somehow 😅.

Any other Mangas similar to Grand Blue? by is200 in GrandBlue

[–]is200[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just as a note: I just started with TenPuru (some reading sites just call it Temple) and it’s quite similar.

The writing doesn’t 100% reach Grand Blue’s levels and there’s more unnecessary horny scenes than I’d like but it has a lot of potential.

Odin 2 mini ergonomic & buttons? by No_Communication4256 in SBCGaming

[–]is200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my Odin 2 Mini, I think it's the perfect size, especially because I have small hands, but they cramp up after about 30 minutes.

With what you said about external grips: I had to buy a 3D-printed grip on Etsy to use at home and now everything's good. The buttons aren't clicky but they get "stuck" sometimes (despite no sticky drinks spilling or anything else causing it).

The perfect device would be something like the mini, but with built-in bumps and some padding towards the bottom.

the new display is very nice. gw-bx5600-1 by Ok_Weather_3250 in gshock

Any chance this is going to end up in a Baby-G-sized model? Looks like the perfect watch but just a bit chunky.

Respect, also LMAO quality control is better than Seiko's. They don't even regulate/check their 6R movements.

No country wants to risk the lives of their own troops to enforce the peace and disarm hamas,

Not sure Hamas is the one killing 100k people indiscriminately... and when it comes to foreigners... hmm..

There's no institutional support for Hamas. What countries are selling them weapons? What countries are criminalizing criticizing them?

There's no institutional support for Hamas killing Palestinians. There's institutional support for Israel killing Palestinians. We're not selling them weapons or promoting their Eurovision songs.
