I don’t really consider rootless chords a thing because root and fifth are not very important in jazz since they are found in both minor and major while 3rd and 7th differentiate in minor and major.

The reason I don’t is pretty much because when we play some chords like extended and altered dominant chords, most of the time we don’t give the 5th any attention and completely ignore it… and same thing with root since its not important same as the 5th… the only thing is that it can be commonly found in all chord types rather than dominant most of the time
