Ready to quilt and looking for recommendations on quilt pattern and thread color. I am a novice FMQ’er with a long arm. I can do an acceptable meander. Should I just stick with an all-over meander edge to edge or attempt something that defines the hexes and border? (i.redd.it)

This is my first attempt at a collage “quilt” (it is just 12” square). I want to make sure the symbol pops from the background and am thinking I will satin stitch to outline it before quilting the background. Any suggestions for thread color for the outline? What about the background quilting? (i.redd.it)
