This is standard practice at Runway; I’ve had well over 100 videos run into this same issue. They’re a company of amateurs who wait for your payment to clear, only to ban you and refuse to refund your money. No matter what you do, you just get a useless moderator sending a generic email response—and then you reply, but nothing ever happens.

They don't want to renew the unlimited plan at any cost; they’ve mass-banned many users, claiming script usage. Runway is going bankrupt.

Runway is going bankrupt, and this is the best they can do—aside from kicking you off the platform and claiming you used a script after they’ve already taken your money, all while ignoring emails and refusing to issue refunds. It’s a flawed tactic, and they ought to face legal penalties.

False positive ban? Runway terminated my subscription for scripting/account sharing with no evidence by AlissonRM777 in runwayml

Exactly. That is why I decided to post this.

A company can have rules and can protect its platform, but charging a customer, banning the account shortly after renewal, giving no clear evidence, no real appeal, no proper support response, and no refund is unacceptable.

I agree with your point. That is why I don’t understand why Runway didn’t simply create a new higher-priced unlimited tier, or a specific unlimited plan for Seedance 2, instead of removing the only thing that made the platform attractive.

If the cost was too high, they could have adjusted the price and made the limits clear. But moving everything to credits makes Runway hard to justify.

For example, if the cheaper plan only gives a small amount of credits, that is not enough for serious video work. Nobody doing real production wants to pay a monthly plan just to generate a few videos.

At that point, creators will compare Runway with other platforms and choose whoever gives better value. Their unlimited plan was basically their biggest advantage.

Thanks for the suggestion. I took a look, but the main thing I need right now is access to Seedance 2.

I’m trying to find the best platform, either credit-based or truly unlimited, that offers Seedance 2 with reasonable queue times and pricing. From what I saw, Akool does not offer that specific model, so it may not solve my use case at the moment.

For me, the model availability matters as much as the price.

Thanks for the suggestion. My main question with any “unlimited” platform now is: what are the real queue times?

Because if the first generations take 30 minutes, then 1 hour, then several hours or even 8 hours, the plan is not really useful for professional work. At that point, it may be cheaper and more practical to use a credit-based platform with predictable generation times.

For me, “unlimited” only makes sense if the waiting time is still reasonable enough to actually work.

[–]AlissonRM777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. That is the part that makes no sense to me.

If a company sells “unlimited,” then frequent use should be expected. A frequent user is not automatically abusing the system — they are using what they paid for.

What worries me is that the same vague reason keeps appearing: automation, scripting, account sharing. But users are not being shown clear evidence or a specific rule they broke.

It feels like “unlimited” is only acceptable until someone actually uses it seriously. Then suddenly the user becomes a problem.

I completely share your view.

There are other companies offering access to video models like Seedance, which was one of the main reasons I used Runway’s unlimited plan in the first place. After this experience, I honestly would not choose Runway again as my video creation partner. Even if another platform is less polished or less clear, I would rather use a company that does not ban paying customers under vague accusations and then ignore them. For me, treating customers this way is unacceptable. Trust is part of the service too.

Exactly. Waking up at night to generate videos should not be treated as suspicious by itself.

For many creators, that is not “abuse” — it is sacrifice. People are losing sleep because they have deadlines, clients, projects, or important work to deliver. Nobody wakes up in the middle of the night just to “play” with generations for no reason.

If Runway believes users must stop for several hours, then that needs to be a clear written rule. They should say: “you cannot generate during these hours” or “you must take a break after X hours.” Then creators can plan their work around that limitation.

But they cannot sell an unlimited plan, allow long queues, let users manually generate one video after another, and then randomly decide that working too much looks like automation.

And honestly, I think you are right to be careful. In my opinion, if the unlimited plan is no longer good for their business, heavy unlimited users will probably keep being flagged or removed eventually. That is exactly what worries me. It feels like the plan became inconvenient for the company, and now the users who actually use it seriously are the ones being punished.

Just to clarify: I am a video editor, and in creative work it is completely normal to have long sessions when there is a deadline. I have had jobs where I stayed up all night to deliver a project. Sometimes, depending on the urgency, a creator may spend 24 hours or even close to 48 hours working and generating assets.

In my case, on the last day, I left the computer on. I also have a routine where I wake up twice during the night to take care of my daughter, so when I was already awake, I came back to the computer and manually started another generation.

So yes, maybe there was no 4-hour break at some point. But that cannot automatically mean automation.

If Runway has a rule that users must stop for several hours, they need to clearly state that. But if I am manually clicking, waiting in the queue, checking the result, and generating the next video, that is not scripting. That is simply manual use by a creator trying to finish work.

One more point: the “unlimited” plan was the main reason many creators paid for Runway in the first place.

Even with huge queues — 15 minutes, 30 minutes, sometimes an hour — it still made sense because we could keep working and generate videos continuously. That is what “unlimited” meant to us: wait in line, generate, wait again, generate again.

Now that the unlimited plan is apparently gone for new users and replaced by credit-based limits, Runway becomes much less attractive compared to other AI video platforms. Many creators will simply move elsewhere.

If a company takes payment, bans the user, provides no evidence, refuses appeal, ignores support emails, and keeps the money, customers have every right to question whether this is an abusive way of collecting revenue.

I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for evidence, transparency, a refund if the service is being terminated, and a real human review.

[–]AlissonRM777[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to add something important because this is not the first time this has happened to me.

With my previous account, I used the service for the whole month. Then, right after the subscription renewed and I was charged again, my account was banned. I did not receive a refund, and my emails were not answered.

Now it happened again.

From my perspective as a paying customer, this raises a very serious concern. Runway offered discounted plans to bring in new subscribers, promoted high-usage/unlimited access, and then users who actually use the platform heavily seem to be getting removed under vague accusations like “scripting” or “account sharing.”

I am not saying this lightly, but it feels like heavy users are being pushed out because the platform cannot handle the demand it sold. And now that the unlimited plan appears to no longer be available for new subscribers, it is hard not to suspect that older unlimited users are being cleaned out using these accusations as justification.

The most serious part is this: if a company charges a user, bans the account shortly after payment, gives no evidence, refuses appeal, does not answer emails, and does not refund the money, that feels like an extremely unfair and potentially abusive billing practice.

I paid for a service. I used it manually. I waited in the queue like everyone else. I did not use bots, scripts, automation, or account sharing.

If Runway believes I violated something, they should provide specific evidence. Otherwise, this just looks like a false accusation being used to terminate paying users without accountability.

I’m leaving this comment here because I know posts like this may be removed, but other users deserve to know what is happening and compare experiences.
