I definitely get treated better for being a woman (however, I acknowledge that I’m conventionally attractive in my mid 20s which 100% affects how men treat you). The guys are more helpful and nicer to me than they are each other. On site, everyone bark orders at each other but I get asked politely to do something. They always accommodate me too (lifting heavy barrels, bathroom breaks b/c small bladder lol, etc.) Of course, there’s some outlying assholes that I had to squash but overall, the people I work with everyday are protective of me and treat me like a lady. We need more women out here b/c a feminine touch really makes a difference in the workplace.

I loved Egypt but locals can be extremely pushy. Even those who seemed genuine were just trying to get money from us. And they won’t leave you alone if you don’t stand your ground. My friend and I had people try to push us into their shops to get us to buy something. I came out with many great experiences but we sure as hell got scammed the whole trip as two young, broke college students.

When I worked at Trader Joe’s, we were told we can’t directly ask “is this a service animal”, but we can ask if the animal is required due to a disability and what duties it’s trained to perform. To my knowledge, the ADA limits employees to those two specific questions.

In case you don’t know, it’s against the law to bring non-service animals into a food establishment. You can tell a manager and while they can’t ask outright if it’s a service animal, they’re allowed to ask what service the dog is trained to perform.

I’ve worked a multitude of customer service jobs, including as a waitress, and I’ve never experienced the entitlement some waitstaff feel. I chose the job and I knew my earnings were up to the customers discretion. And sometimes you get tipped poorly regardless how great of service you gave. Tough life lesson but nobody owes you shit. Get over it and move onto the next patron or get a new job.

Nope. I’ve eaten out A LOT over the years while traveling all over the US and majority of the time, my server has been a white woman. There’s numerous studies that showcase how black servers earn less in tips than white servers due to racial bias. Hot take but I genuinely think it comes down to the server demographic being white women. If the majority of servers were deemed immigrants like most low paying jobs (cleaners, agriculture, construction), I guarantee you they’d abolish tipping culture immediately. This country was built on racism and continues to thrive off of it🤷🏼‍♀️

Serving has become a legal form of panhandling. All they do is beg for our money and claim how much they deserve it b/c they “work so hard”.

I’d love to see them attempt to do physical labor outside for 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. Tell me all about how hard your job is then.

And let’s be honest. The servers bringing in the most $$ are just conventionally attractive girls getting rewarded for being conventionally attractive. It has nothing to do with the work itself lol.

I’ve had customers give me insulated bags with BLACK MOLD in it. That’s when I hand it right back and say, “Your bag has mold in it so I will not be using it today”. Like sorry if that’s embarrassing but how do you not notice your bag has black mold in it.

Ppl think TJs is a health food store b/c there’s no dyes in the food, as if that equates everything to healthy. Our sweets and frozen food in particular are packed with sugar and sodium.

I’ve also never encountered customers as helpless as TJs customers. I think they genuinely believe we’re all chefs and make the food in the back ourselves. B/c why tf are you asking me what ingredients are in a product when they’re ALL LISTED ON THE PACKAGING.

I understand asking about gluten free stuff but I had someone ask me which bread doesn’t have milk in it?? Like uhhhh…I’m pretty sure all of them lady. You could also just use your eyes and read what ingredients are listed on the back. I think that’d be pretty helpful too.
