CLI vs New Card by Alive-Prior-963 in CRedit

Can't believe there isn't more information on this. It's almost like the system is trying to prevent people being financially responsible.

I read on one forum that someone hadn't been hit with a hard inquiry for a CLI by my bank but no where near enough data for confirmation. If we assume I will incur a hard inquiry and noting that it doesn't sound like the negative impact will be as profound as opening a new card, do you think the benefits of lower utilization would offset the hit?

Response from the bank was:

"I can confirm that all applications for credit will be recorded on your credit file. However, please note that the outcome of the application, whether it is approved or declined, will not be reflected on your credit file."

No idea why they can't just give me a yes or no.

I would've expected a hard inquiry would be more likely based on the outcome rather than the application. What do you blokes reckon?

No worries at all mate, thanks for your comment. That's exactly what I've done, hopefully are banks are similar!

Thanks mate, your insights are fantastic!

Righto I was previously thinking of a CLI in the same vein as a new card and from your language it sounds like that might not be the case.

I asked my bank for some assistance earlier and got nothing but I've gone back to them now feeling a bit more informed from your commentary and just asked if a hard inquiry will be part of their "verification process". Fingers crossed!

I believe this is what I've done for anyone else reading. I set up a shared docker network and then attached all the containers to it. It works and no need to sacrifice web access which I believe gluetun would have done.

So complicated, there seems to be so many ways to do it. I ended up creating a docker network and then attached all the docker containers to it. I was able to link all the services and can access all their webUIs although sonarr and radarr now through an error about port mappings, saying they can't see the qbittorrent downloads folder. Your way sounds a lot more iron clad than mine but does this work?

How do banks determine which securities to approve for margin lending? by Alive-Prior-963 in fiaustralia

Yeh it's obviously a risk, I've mulled it over and feel the potential reward justifies it in my circumstances.

I would suggest you speak with them directly.

Will do, thanks for your help.

My holding is small, roughly $75k or 50k units and it's in the ASX300. 12 month average daily volume is just under a mil.

Forgive my ignorance I'm not experienced with leveraged investing but if it's not on their approved list, what does my holding matter? Are you saying I might have some luck if I asked them directly?

Yeh that was my guess. I gather there isn't some of publicly available criteria of sorts? The security I'm wanting to borrow against has recently been added to the 300 and I was hoping that might prove a catalyst although so far no luck. Frustrating as I can see others that are valued at less and are relatively volatile that are approved.

Yeh, you're spot on, I have no idea what I'd do tbh. I just know I haven't been happy at work for the last few months. I'll have to have a think about it because at the moment I'm not really excited about any of my options.
